  • Kyles

Is Kyles in the doghouse? Did he have a bad practice or two? I expected him to get minutes earlier in the game. I'll hang up and listen.

Maybe. But as long as Murry gets around 29 minutes at SG, there's not a lot left over, especially if Hatch gets about 5 minutes at SG, like tonight, when he's not playing SF. Kyles is a freshman who's going to have to earn his minutes.

Exactly. In a perfect Shocker world, every freshmen would have to win playing time from upperclassmen. Who should sit to give Kyles more PT?

Don't worry, there will be foul trouble, injuries, bad games by other players that will give Kyles his chances as the season progresses. Heck, he might even wow the coaches in practice and get more minutes.

Marshall's balls-to-the-wall style will take a toll physically and mentally on someone and PT will open up - if not this season, then next.

Kyles will develop and end up getting plenty of PT. When that is nobody can be certain. The tools are there for him to be pretty darn good. But right now, there's really nowhere those extra minutes are going to come from unless he pushes someone out of them in practice.

I am just guessing, but I suspect that David's defense may not quite yet be where HCGM would like it to be.

The young man looks like a natural scorer to me. 6 points in 4 minutes wasn't awful.

What a great problem to have.

It's quite obvious that DOFO (or a cheap imposter) has returned in the form of 0624. 8)

When we can sit a guy with the talent and athleticism like Kyles has....well I like having that problem LOL. Just shows how deep we got. One thing I said to my dad at the game when the cleanup crew came in was...well we will lose some of our lead, but at least we should win. Well guess what...Kyles and company actually STRETCHED the lead even further. Again a good problem to have LOL. And once again I realize that Florida A&M could likely get stomped by Emporia....but still I remember teams in the not so distant past that weren't as deep as this one. It may be young talent...but man is it talent!

Anyone gets hurt this season, and Kyles will be put into the rotation.

Everyone progresses at different rates - in no way does one game make a season. I wouldn't read anything into anything at this point. :goshocks:

They could. And in the future may at some points. But with Clevin and Reggie able to run the point and Graham also rotating in as the 2, there just aren't many minutes available. And in future years we'll also have a long, tall PG who will require minutes.

I'm not worried about David. He'll get his. Like Gregg said on Sports Sunday, he's a guy that's going to play and get plenty of minutes down the road. I believe he lumped him in with Stutz and Murry as being a cornerstone to build this team on. Those 3 are going to be very successful in their 4 years in Wichita.

In the coach's show Marshall said when Kyles becomes more focused in practice that he'll get more playing time and said he feels he will. He also mentioned that Murray has the 2-guard position down pretty well and is learning the point. He said Kyles will get more playing time when Murray is at the point. He also said Kyles is really talented.

I think Kyles is still young at heart. What I mean is he makes not bad but wierd decisions. Seeing him come in for a few minuites and play heads up like he did was impressive to me. As the season goes on he will see more and more pt. By the way is tommorow here yet?

Kyles will get plenty of playing time once he masters the cross-over dribble. Until he develops my pattented move, he will remain as a limited back up player. I am not talking about simply switching hands and changing directions, No, I am talking about my pattented stab step, rubber neck juke, explosive cross-over leaving a defender with a broken ankle and a soiled panty. The one I invented back in the early 70's.
