  • Shocks v. Roos

Seems likely that UMKC will give us all we want and then some come Wednesday evening based upon the fact they are giving KU all they want tonight and of course they beat us last winter.

The wild card may be that the staff including all the coaches are carrying a large chip on their collective shoulders from last year. You may think they were pissed about that game in snowy KC last year but it goes a little deeper. They want this one.....bad.

I don't know if it was as much about UMKC being 'good', as it was KU being 'bad'. UMKC had a couple guys that went off, but that can happen any game to anybody..

Remember, this same UMKC team lost to North Dakota at home a couple nights earlier.

I won't make any specific predictions yet except to say we should win this game in double-digits.

I don't think I'd want to play against Clemente when he had a chip on his shoulder.

It wouldn't surprise me if Clemente drives the team harder in practice than Marshall in the next couple of days.

I think we'll take this game, but it will be a struggle. In a major change from last year and the year before, I think WSU's depth will wear UMKC down and the Shockes will pull away late.

            WSU - 76
            UMKC - 64
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

We could EASILY be overconfident after 1 game that looked much easier than it was and get beat but somehow I think the coaches overcome that attitude for this game at least.

I would love to see a little sharper play from JT and AE. Both players looked much more like freshmen, than, well, our freshmen.

A combined 3 points in 38 minutes from those 2 talented young men isn't going to cut it this season.

It will be interesting to see our team play under adversity. This is when you will see what our team is really made of and who has a heart and who doesn't. Coach has already said that there are some at practice who "don't like to lose". Those are the kind of guys you want to hold onto like gold...

Not having seen WSU play, I can't comment on them, but I wasn't impressed with UMKC in their match-up with KU. The 'Roos made it a game, but I thought it had more to do with KU's youth and inexperience than anything UMKC did. They have a few shooters, but no inside game at all. Their offense is ugly. Jon Scheyer would be proud of their three-point-attempt flops. They have some decent athletes that make their zones fairly effective if your perimeter shots aren't falling, but they tend to overextend and give up dribble penetration. They're not afraid of taking contact to draw charging calls.

Be ready for an ugly game. Pound it inside and get your guards into the paint. Hopefully WSU will shoot from the perimeter better than KU did. Good luck!

Here's the deal. The roos are fixin to get the blues. Remember the loss there last year? Yikes!!! In the movie "Tombstone" Doc (not the good Doc) Holliday (Val Kilmer) said something like---it is not about the revenge--but rather it is the reckoning. Thus, we have a score to settle. Just as Johnny Ringo had to bite the bullet, we need to box the roos ears.

Depends on whether UMKC's 3 pointers are falling or not. I think this might be a close game for us.

                              WSU 68
                              UMKC 62

I get the feeling that Griskenas won't be ready for this game, but he might be for the Centenary game on the 24th.

I also think that HCGM will not run as many lineups through in this game.
