  • Houre' for Toure'!

That would make a nifty sign. OK, maybe a tad on the vague side for the ADD/HDD crowd to get immediately.

Anyway, I was aware of the hype surrounding Toure' Murry dating back to the summer pickup games. Having seen him in a game situation, even considering the competition, I have to say

    I BELIEVE!!

The youngster is smooth, confident, efficient and effective. During the post-game Marshall said "it was love at first sight". I get it now.

You should've been aware of his awesome-ness when we were recruiting him and all of the reports of his high school games came in.

Toure' understands the game at a level that most players never get.

His defensive postioning is nearly flawless. He is going to get a ton of steals and if he stays healthy for 4 years the career record will be his by a TON, mark my words.

They already run several plays for him and I have total confidence he can create when called upon, today, as a freshman, 1 game in.

The young man simply makes everyone better. His line was great but you can't measure what he really means to a team.

I've said it so many times I'm certain many of you are sick of hearing it but I've been stoked about Murry for more than a year now and he is better than I had hoped.

He is as complete a basketball player that WSU has seen in decades.

At times, he reminds me of Aubury Sherrod which is a huge compliment. Toure' does not play at all like a frosh thus far. I still think David Kyles will emerge as the season continues as well. Right now, Graham is putting the rock right down the Hatch
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Toure' handles the ball much better than Sherrod.
          Yikes!

I know it's early and aFm isn't a strong team, but 10 points, 50% from both 2 and 3, 5 assists, 1 turnover, 3 boards, and 2 steals is a pretty solid line for a first D1 game for a true Fr.

You gotta have ice-water in your veins to do that in front of 10K+ screaming fans in your first D1 game. Maybe there wasn't that much screaming, but it's still a totally different atmosphere and a totally different game than HS ball.

The appearance is he's going to be tough to guard. You can't give him an open look, but guard him tight and he can drive. Rotate a defender to cover the drive, and he can pass.

It also seemed that there's some chemistry developing between Murry and Stutz. Maybe it was game-planning, but Murry seemed to be looking for Stutz and Stutz seemed to be working for position when Murry had the ball.

It might take a year to get that working, but that could develop into an inside-outside game like the one that took us to a S16.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

There it is. Toure' does remind one of Aubrey. Not quite the shooter, but has the same great understanding of the game and fluidity. Great defender and long arms, better driving the ball.

              Aubrey was awfully, awfully good.

                Way back …

Toure reminds me a bit of Alex English, just silky smooth.

I know I will bother some, but my thoughts on who he reminded me of were a little different.

On the baseline drive he made, he reminded me of a freshman I saw about 13 years ago playing in one of his first games for his school. Got the ball in the corner, and without hesitation was past his defender making a reverse layup. That guy went on to win NBA Finals MVP last year.

Well, if we are gonna start dropping comparisons, I have to say the first time I saw him I immediately thought Ricky Ross. Shorter of course. But similarly smooth as silk. He looks like he's not even trying.

Oh yeah, he's a true freshman. I love this dude!

Yeah, watching his movements in comparison to his defender on that drive, looks like he caught the ball, called his mom, got some starbucks, cooked lunch, then walked toward the basket and layed it in. Then the defender turned around with a "Where'd he go?"

                      "Where'd WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO?"

I will throw out another name from Tulsa...Steve Harris. Toure has many of the same traits. Paul Pressy defensively was in a class by himself.
I still have not seen anyone who could press and attack the passing lanes like him.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

His passing ability isn't get enough run. I think it's one of his strongest abilities. When he penetrates he has great vision and finds the open man, unlike many 2 guards that get the ball and just look for their shot.

I know some won't like this comparison, but it's a name that's been in the back of my mind since Shocker Madness.

                              Darren Brooks.
