Was listening to KGSO yesterday Between the Lines and they were hawking tickets for the ku/Emporia State game for $25.00 each. The thing that caught my attention was that they are normally priced at $55.00 each. Is this how much single game tickets are at ku or are they that much for season ticket holders too? My WSU season tickets are priced at $20.00 each so the question/questions are ku tickets overpriced or are my treasured Shocker tickets a really great value.

Yes, $55 is the regular price for a KU basketball ticket. They use the same ticketing website that WSU has and also have a Ticket Marketplace. Given the current state of basketball at WSU, our price is probably about right or a little high. But given the demand, $20 is probably good. I'm pretty sure other Valley schools sell their tickets for less than us, but demand is lower at the other Valley schools except for Creighton, but they have so many tickets to sell, they are in a different situation than us.

The above figure for WSU does not include SASO. Do the other programs do the same type of additional revenue generation?“Talk low, talk slow and don't say too much.”

Like newshock said, the demand is sufficient that we can get away with higher ticket prices. It's a luxury that also has it's drawbacks. And when competing with some of the athletic department budgets in the Big XII [South], KU has to do these kinds of things to keep up.

I know at KU if you donate anything to the Williams Fund (at least $50 per year) you get priority in purchasing single game tickets when they are available. You can usually purchase them a few days before they are offered up to the general public. At least that was the way it was a few years back?
I think that WSU's ticket prices are quite reasonable when you consider the demand and the sheer entertainment value. Koch Arena is one hopping place. Granted it does add up with the SASO donation - but hey - its for the kids.

"...sheer entertainment value.? Koch Arena is one hopping place". I hope you aren't discussing the ESU game, cause I was there, and I'm sorry, it was DEAD. The pre-game intro was the same as last year (jet flying through campus) and the player intro was quite average. Very few in game entertainment activities, and another fabulous half-time show. I'd think the Business School Marketing Dept. would be somewhat embarrassed to have that "entertainment value" representing our University. As an alum - I'm embarrassed. Kick it up a notch, and make it a true "Value" and fun at the same time.
