  • MVC exhibitions 11/9

    Updates will come as available:

Creighton def. Central Missouri 78-65 (not the dominating performance I would have hoped for the #1 MVC team. However, just exhibition...so who knows)

-Perhaps though this wasn't as close as the score would seem. Creighton never lost the lead and Central Missouri never got closer than 8 points in the 2nd half after going into halftime down 36-26.

-Kenny Lawson led Creighton with 16 points while 3 other Bluejays had double figures. Booker Woodfox = 15, Kenton Walker = 14 & P'unk Stinnett = 10.

    - The Jays narrowly outrebounded Central Mizzou 39-38. Kenton Walker led on boards with 8 in 17 minutes of play. Kenny Lawson and Justin Carter added 7 boards each.

    - CU started off the game with hot shooting connecting on 56.5% from the field and 50% from 3 point line in the first half. They ended the game 45.9% FG and only 30% from 3 point line after making only 2-8 treys in the 2nd half.

-Creighton's defense did hold Central Mizzou to 37.1% from the field and 9.1% from 3 point line after CMU went 0-13 from the 3 point line in the 1st half.

    - Stinnett and Dotzler had 4 assists each while only turning it over 1 time. Cavel Witter led the Bluejays in a category you don't want to lead in...he had 4 turnovers in 17 mins of play.

8200ish. Probably a lot of 'em wishing they weren't there.

You should post once in a while at VT. . 8)

A 13 point win, a 6 point win, and a 5 point loss for 3 exhibition games so far for Valley teams. Ouch.

I'm sure a lot of these "closer than usual" games are because the coaches are trying different lineups and plays during the games. It's exhibition for cyring out loud. However, that being said I REALLY don't understand Bradley.

I like the possibility of the Valley being a little softer this year...from our perspective of fighting our way back to the top. Sure, it doesn't help recruiting conference-wide, but a higher than expected finish by WSU in a softer conference HELPS US more than the softer conference hurts our recruiting efforts.

                    I agree.

Softer conference this year, no problem. Back to the Valley of Death after that would be fine.

Folks around Wichita might not be aware but UCM (they recently changed names from CMSU) has been one of the top DII teams the last few years. I think 2 years ago they finished 3rd place in the post-season tourney, not as high last year, but always near the top of the conference.

Thier home is Warrensburg, MO, about an hour from downtown KC.
They draw about 2k+ fans in a town about the size of El Dorado.

I do expect more out of CU, though.

The score in our game against Emporia State obviously had very little meaning to coach Marshall. More than likely it was the same for all the Valley coaches. However losing an exhibition game is not good but not the end of the world. Glad it was Bradley and not us.

Oh, I don't know. Kentucky losing to Gardner-Webb last year resulted in us getting Garrett Stutz. And it can be a thing that follows you for the whole season.

The Gardner-Webb game was close to the end of the world for Kentucky. It was a regular season game.
