  • A new Shocker forum?

If the deletion of a thread based on the reasoning that this site is to be a "friend" to the institution instead of the fans that support it isn't a stark warning sign that there needs to be a whole lot more Shocker sports forums, then I don't know what is.

I don't have the time to manage a forum but I'm willing to finance it. Those with the knowledge and belief in free speech P.M me and we will discuss plans.

    P.S.

Isn't it ironic that the person who deleted the thread was just recently displaying an avatar of Karl Marx?

        OMG!!!!!111111

Could the mere mention of creating another forum cause me to be punished? I thought we were all republicans here? Free markets remember? Competition can only make Shockernet stronger and more efficient!!!

Seriously though, fans deserve a clean, unencumbered source of discussion. Too much censorship gives me the runs...

I can assure you if I set this in motion I wouldn't fail. I would just need a couple good admins because I have a life.. lol.

Shockernet can be the official mouth piece of the Shocker Athletic Dept. and my competing forum can be ValleyTalk2.. LOL.

It would be an interesting experiment to see how a well run, truly free speech Shocker forum would do.

It would be a bit rougher, a bit tougher, and gossip would be allowed just like it is on every other sports forum in the universe.

The best forums have VERY little administrative input except to stave off spam etc.

Go for it, Cold. You and I have our disagreements but more is better when it comes to the Shockers. Of course, I don't know anything because I'm just a troll conservative looking for a fight, according to one poster.
Just don't get us banned from Koch.

All of the other major Kansas schools have multiple forums. Why not WSU?

Go for it but I love this forum and I think you are overreacting but it is a free country... I am staying here! You go overboard sometimes and you know it. It's part of your thing but you may as well stay here and be the character.

Competition does not make internet forums stronger. The reason ShockerNet is strong is because it's a one stop shop for Shocker news. If you could build a competitor, it would only fracture our community and make good, reliable news harder to come by.

Also, a truly free forum would be counterproductive. With no real restrictions, every discussion would be full of trolls and morons, and the ones that aren't would get WAY out of hand. Every thread would be like that 13 page thread where that other guy and I had a fight about student tickets and almost got banned.

But hey, if you do that, I'd join up. Might even help you out for front-row seats to watch the sparks fly...

Nobody has to leave. It's just another forum (albeit a bit wilder) ;-)

                      Good post, by the way...

Thank you. I've been around a few forums in my time, and this forum is a perfect example of what works. Why leave?

                          I was being sarcatic! :)

Hey, I'm not talking about letting trolls run wild, but if a person has information or opinions to share, it won't be run through the Shocker Administration Staff to see if it is allowable. That happens continually on here...

This is a very clean, HIGHLY-managed, peaceful site that I think misses out on some of the fun that less regulated sites enjoy. When ValleyTalk used to rock it was like a Shockernet 2 and it was a lot of fun. Especially when Royal stepped down as admin!!! ;-) :D ;-) :D

I like a fair amount of starch in my dress shirts, but when I want to dress down I really dress down.. :good:

Like I said, I'd be willing to help with VERY light moderator duties strictly for a front-row seat for the drama.

You've got a good idea here, but I really don't think it would ever pan out. You'd need something BIG to start to compete with ShockerNet...
