Without "Porkchop", why is UNI getting picked in the upper-division?

I can't see them better than Bradley.

Did Drake get some awesome recruiting class that I didn't know about?!

Last year they were VERY senior heavy ( 8 ) and will essentially be a different team. Losing Korver (10.4 ppg), Cox (12.3 ppg), Emmenecker (8.6 ppg), Houston (14.1 ppg), and their coach to me indicates a complete rebuilding year.

I doubt I'll be eating crow when I say the Shocks will be above the Bulldogs this year. :goshocks:

Cox was a Jr. last year. I wasn't aware that DU lost him.

Cox is still there, but I don't think Drake finishes that high this season. I think they fall back into reality.

Cox is back and so is Josh Young, who is the most talented. Josh Parker is not a bad player either. However, they have little post presence (Heemskerk?) and a bunch of unknowns on the pine. The real loss is Emmenecker and everything he brought to the table. He was one of the smartest on the floor players I have ever watched. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

I am going with 18 wins this season, and about 5th place in the league.

                  Athlon

According to Shockwaves, Paul Suellentrop did the Valley writeup for Athlon. So he's the one who picked WSU 7th. I do think he's underestimating, kcshocker11, although given the Shocks' level of experience it's not a surprise that he (or anyone else) might do so.

I also believe WSU will finish ahead of Drake, and I think they'll be higher than 7th in the league.

More than most, this year is full of possibilities. I could see WSU anywhere from 3rd (without Orupke and without experience it is beyond hope to expect consistency needed to finish 1 or 2) to 9th (I refuse to believe our talent is the worst in the league and I know our infrastructure and coaching is nowhere near the bottom).

Other teams have different parameters......CU is too talented and well coached to expect to finish out of the top 3. ISUR lost a lot from last year but has returners that know how to win; 1-5 is probable. SIU hasn't been out of the top 4 for a decade. Anything 2-5 is likely. BU is very talented but Jim Les' teams are always up and down....I could see them 1-6. Drake...based on the last 2 seasons 1,9 or anything in between. ISUB thinks they are better; 5-10 is possible. Evansville as well....maybe 6-10. UNI...who really knows? 4-10? I could see just about anything outside the top 2.....SWMO...new coach....5-10.

It will be a topsy-turvy year in the Valley for sure.

The league is up for grabs. This is the one yr that nobody is a shoe in to win it all, everybody is inexperience to some degree and there's not one all-american coming back that will dominate everybody from start to finish. How can they pick anybody to finish first and last in the MVC.You can put all the teams in a hat and pull the order in which to write about. There is no way WSU finish 7th.

so...where do you think the shox will end up in the standings?? AND ---do you think CU has a chance for the championship?? I think they do.

There is a lot of uncertainty but CU is the clear favorite. They return quite a bit of talent. The only thing they're missing is height inside, but they've got a couple of very good post players.

SIU just doesn't seem to fall far. Whatever they do seems to work.

ISU brings back the best player in the Valley and he has some players around him. I'd guess they finish 2nd above SIU.

I think those are probably the top 3 teams. You never know about Bradley. I think the Shox could compete for 2nd or 3rd but am looking for 5th right now.

I expect the Thursday games to involve MSU, ISU, UE and DU. UNI could slide in there if ISU improves more than I expect or DU doesn't fall off as much as I suspect.
