Late Night in the Phog is schedule for October 12th with the time TBA.

So Shocker Madness could have been held the weekend of October 12 -14.

For some reason Jim Schaus or HCGM decided not to do that.

Perhaps HCGM wanted a few days with his team before he puts them on display?

How do you think attendance at Shocker Madness would be if we held it at midnight on the opening night of pracitce like they do at KU?

My guess is cut the 4,000 post Sweet-16 crowd in half.
I would agree with your 2,000 estimate. A midnight Shocker Madness would likely NEVER work at WSU (unless we’re the preseason #1 ranked team and the MVC became a BCS conference). Unfortunately, we beer bellied gray headed old farts can’t hang with you youngsters.

If we had a midnight Shocker Madness on a Friday or Saturday, I would probably go. However, I know quite a few folks who probably would pass.

I seem to recall that shocker madness always used to fall on the Saturday at the end of Shocktoberfest. THere was a carnival at Koch put on by the Greek community, once that was cleaned up the basketball (mens and womens) events would begin around 7.

            Believe me:

WSU Men's Basketball has 1st priority over Charles Koch Arena.

If they want it, they get it, end of story. Other "non-revenue" producing sports get second chance. Although it's nice to support volleyball, women's basketball, golf, cross country, whatever...the athletic department could not survive without the breadmaker.

If Syracuse all of a sudden wanted to return the favor of last year at Charles Koch arena, but a volleyball match happened to be in the way, I think it would be in our best interest to reschedule the volleyball game. (PS. I know this won't happen, as the Orangemen don't leave the state of NY until January when volleyball is over, but you get the point.)

This is very disappointing. I should be there no matter what, but I know a lot of people who won't be able to make since it's not on the weekend.

I think it's required by law that I be there, but the kids...um, school night and all, won't.

How many other kids WON'T be there? How much $$ is lost in concessions and store sales? I'm guessing a fair number. Move SM up to 4PM on Saturday (NOT TUESDAY - my word, that still just sounds awful!), start the carnival and let it run till the VB match begins, and see if you can sell a few VB season tickets to the basketball fans. Or just move Women's VB up a bit, do something to promote men's basketball at some point during the VB game, and you'll have people showing up in droves.

Tuesday sucks, and they don't put on much of a show, but I'll be there regardless. It's just never been very imaginative. Maybe we should call in to the MBB office and start a phone campaign to change it.

No doubt you're right in that assessment. Men's BB is the Big Gorilla of WSU sports.

So we are having Shocker Madness on a Tuesday night because?

I guess it must not be all that big of a priority to ADJS or HCGM.

I would still expect a pretty decent crowd simply because the hiring of HCGM has created such excitement and becuase we have so many new faces coming in this year.

Here is what I would like to see regardless of what night they play. With all of the new faces, I wished they would play a full game. If they want to run a continuous clock--then so be it. However, I rarely miss this scrimmage, but wish the 'powers to be' would make it more worth our time to attend.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                      Tuesday nights fine

Let's let the program build a little steam with some results and a full year's efforts in recruiting before we want a weekend night to build excitement. I think CM & JS are right to schedule the event they way it's scheduled this year - there'll be enough pressure by fans as it is!

Well, I will be working until at least 7:30pm....so doubt I'll be there. Sure wish it was a weekend. I guess it's possible I can make it a little late...still pretty incovenient :(

Man, you guys are going to get really pissed when you realize that there are 5 Tuesday-night home games on the schedule this year.

I'm betting they'll still sell out, though. ;)

Wait.... So why can't Madness have a good crowd again?
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Regardless of the night, me and my boys will be there.

I'd say I've missed somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 home games since '85 so Tuesdays don't present a big problem for me either.

In fact, I kind of prefer weekday games.
