I don't believe we have that one or two star players that can carry a team at this time and probably not by the end of the season. What will be our strength is whether or not our young, but very talented players can give us a lot of depth. I would like to see a least 10 solid players, any of which HCGM will feel comfortable about playing. Again, this will be our strength -- continual harassment on D, running them to death on offense, and creating bad matchups for our opponents.

Lineups:
1. Hannah
2. Kyles
3. AJ
4. Clemente
5. Stutz
next:
1. Reggie
2. Murry
3. Mantas
4. Ellis
5. Durley
I don't think Durley is best at the 5, but may have to play it. Having 6'9" Ellis at the 4 though will makeup some height that Durley is short of for a 5. I think it is possible for Hatch to come in at the 3 for Mantas when we need a 3 badly, or for Murry to switch to the 3 position, and Hatch to the 2.
I do think that Clemente and AJ will be playing a lot of minutes though.

It seems we have plenty of players who can play the 4 spot Ramon Clemente. Aaron Ellis, Mantas Griskenas, JT Durley and Garret Stutz.
However I am not really comfortable with any of them at the 3 spot. In the Valley 3's are typically slashers or big guards. I am not sure
any of our 4's could step out and guard AJ Hawkins consistantly. However if we run zone for extended periods of time with an occasional
switch to man I think Aaron Ellis could handle the 3.
Right now AJ is the guy we can't afford to lose. I expect him to play a lot of minutes and big minutes (replace PJ)."Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

AE had a problem with fouls at the 3 last year. I think AE at the 3 is a little like when PJ had to play the 4 or, very rarely, point . . . serviceable in short doses but not optimal.
I think a healthy Mantas would allow AE to stay at the 4 most of the time.
I have a feeling that Ramon will be playing the role PT played last year, at least until Stutz gets up to speed and or Durley heals but . . .
Durley is a large, no pun intended, wild card. The questions are how quick does he bounce back and has his D improved?
The next conundrum is where do the two Texas guards fit? Pretty sure we will need at least one of them to step up this year. Can we get enough minutes for both of them or is a red shirt a possibility?
Both of the JC point guards will play and appear to natural 1's with shooting ability good enough to be decent but short 2's. I see Reggie and CH as interghangeable.
I hope the depth is as good as it looks. It is fun to watch teams play tough D and run for 40 minutes. I remember seeing teams run out 5 new guys and just wearing down teams in the 2nd half. It would seem that we may finally have the atheletes to do that.

I still think Aaron is much more likely to see time at the 3 than Mantas. Marshall has said over and over that Mantas just doesn't have the ability to guard that position.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

If he starts he jumps. If he doesn't I'd guess Ramon would.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Originally posted by DanTall lineups are over rated. Granted, I don't like have sub 6' guards, but a big problem with Ellis at the 3 is guarding other 3's like PJ or Jamar Howard types. He might be tall enough to block shots, but is he quick enough to guard them out to the perimeter? Same goes for Hawkins at the 2 guard, although I have not seen him play yet."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. There are so many different possibilities and combinations this year....heck we may still have a roster change or 2 before it's all over. ;-)
I guess what I really want to know is which lineup do you want to see succeed? Perhaps the better question is which lineup do you think gives us the best chance for success come Arch Madness time?
