  • Which Lineup do you want to see this season?

The off season is killing me. Thank goodness I have Volleyball in a couple of weeks to take my mind off the wait.

There are so many different possibilities and combinations this year....heck we may still have a roster change or 2 before it's all over. ;-)

I guess what I really want to know is which lineup do you want to see succeed? Perhaps the better question is which lineup do you think gives us the best chance for success come Arch Madness time?

Here is the lineup I really want to see:

      1-Reggie Chamberlain
      2-Toure Murry
      3-AJ Hawkins
      4-Ramon Clemente
      5-Aaron Ellis

Run, run, run, defense, defense, defense.

Here is the lineup that I think gives us the best chance for success when tourney time rolls around:

      1. Clevin Hannah
      2. AJ Hawkins
      3. Ramon Clemente
      4. Aaron Ellis
      5. Garrett Stutz

I still think we are going to play almost everyone. Even with the latter group, you have Mantas, Kyles, Reggie, Toure & JT Durley (the real wild card) that I can see giving us productive minutes.

FSF agrees with the lineup and subs of goshocks. However, I actually think the sky is the limit for each of these players to also start or finish different games depending on our various needs versus different styles of teams we play.

          1. Clevin
          2. A.J.
          3. Ellis
          4. Durley
          5. Clemente

          Next five

          1. Reggie
          2.Toure
          3. DK
          4. Mantas
          5. Stutz

Hatch flying in at any time to sharpshoot threes.

Run and play D and play everyone a lot of minutes so we always have Fresh bodies.

            What I'd like to see:

            1. Kyles
            2. Hawk
            3. Ellis
            4. Clemente
            5. Stutz

            Best success in post season

            1. Hannah
            2. Kyles
            3. Hawk
            4. Clemente
            5. Stutz

The depth we have is great. Anyone of Murry, Griz, Durley, Ellis or Chamberlain can be big impact guys and play significant roles. And Hatch is always an option to bombard opponents from deep.

Ellis is not going to play the 3 and AJ will not play the 2. We have quality players for these positions. Why would we ask people to play out of their natural position?

It's probably because Ellis has shown he has some ability to play on the wing and Hawk is very capable of playing the 2. Some fear Ellis isn't strong enough to play with his back to the basket, I guess that means he should be on the bench since we can't agree where he'd be best suited. I'd be shocked if Ellis doesn't play any 3 at all.

The question was what we'd like to see and many people want to see Aaron on the wing. He's tall and athletic with a nice jump shot and range. He's also played fine D from reports on the likes of PJ which show he can guard smaller, quicker guys.

Hawk handles the ball well and has a nice jump shot. He's not going to shoot 45-50 percent from behind the ark but that doesn't mean he can't spend some time at the two in a certain lineup. Why must we limit players to only one position? Thier versatility should be used to make the team better and create matchups that work in our favor.

If nobody was allowed to play a position that doesn't best suit them, than Garrett Stutz will be playing 40 minutes at the 5. And we don't have an abundance of quality players at the 3. Only Hawk is considered a definite 3. Outside of that you have Ellis who was brought in as a CF and a bunch of CG that you could try and slide out there in a 3 guard set.

I dont understand why you would try to place AJ who even you call a definite 3 at the 2 (previous post) You also state that we are short on threes so again why move him to the 2. We recruited 4 guards this year let them play the guard position.

As far as Ellis, yes I could see him coming off the bench to spell AJ at the 3, but he will want his minutes and they are going to come at the 4. I agree last year that he might not have enough bulk to play the 4, but he has put on a tremendous amount of weight.

If we are not playing Garrett at the 5 it will be a very long season.

We are going to be young no matter how you slice it so why not go with players at their natural positions...Start Stutz at C.....Clemente at PF...AJ at the 3...TM at 2 guard and the best Juco PG ......I will admit it is hard to keep AE out of the starting lineup but I am tired of seeing us play a PF at the 5 position....but if Stutz is a year off then Durley, Ellis and Clemente will have to do it by committee

If both FR step up and contribute quite a bit this year Hawk won't have to play any two. But one of the questions was what lineup you'd like to see. I'd love to see a large lineup with those guys on the court together and those are the positions they'd have to play. I never suggested those should be their main positions or the starting lineup as that wasn't in either of the Docs questions.

Aaron has put on a lot of weight, but that's not all there is to being strong enough in the post. I've seen plenty of big guys that can't hack it because they're weak inside. Aaron is still young and we'll see. And everyone knows he'll play quite a bit at the 4. But he'll have to prove he can play there as Mantas is going to want to see some action as well and isn't going to just step aside and let Aaron play there.

                          1-Chamberlain
                          2-Hawkins
3-Griskenas -- I'd love it if he came back strong. We'll need his rebounds.
                          4-Clemente

Tall lineups are over rated. Granted, I don't like have sub 6' guards, but a big problem with Ellis at the 3 is guarding other 3's like PJ or Jamar Howard types. He might be tall enough to block shots, but is he quick enough to guard them out to the perimeter? Same goes for Hawkins at the 2 guard, although I have not seen him play yet.

Again, based off of everything we've heard for the past year, Ellis does a fine job guarding PJ and Hawk was said to be one of the better defenders. D from those two shouldn't be a problem.
