Randy Smithson in my eyes will always be Shocker Royalty. His father was a great coach, he was a great player, and he accepted the responsiblitiy of trying to make WSU basketball great as a coach.

I could always find Chris' email address on the KGSO Website in the past. Now, for whatever reason, it isn't there. At the very least, you could call him weekday morning at 436-1410.

Chris, if you read this, is it okay for ShockerNet to have your email address?

Don't forget that without Cohen and Thompson failing miserably we would have never hired Randy. Randy is a good guy and his heart belongs to WSU, but he just wasn't cut out for D1 coaching.

Randy took over a horrible program and provided winning seasons his 1st 2 years. They were the 1st winning seasons in a decade.

Unfortunately, problems keeping good players on the team and attitude problems hurt that effort. I don't dispute that Randy's old school methods may not have had a chance of working with today's generation of kids and his inability to gain the respect needed may have caused his demise. I know he finally lost my support when he benched Jason Perez.

I don't necessarily agree with how he handled his players, but I still appreciate Randy as a player, person and for his basketball knowledge.

Shocker Soundoff will return. The show will air 3 hours before each game and will be 2 hours long. It will once again be live at The Shadow. KGSO appreciates the support of the show and we look forward to meeting you.

Smithson also landed two of the highest rated recruits, in Williams and Evans, that we had seen since the glory years, and perhaps that we have seen since.

On the show Randy also asked HCGM if he thought he could recruit better players here than he could at Winthrop. HCGM said he could. I thought coach had some pretty good recruits at Winthrop. He said he never would have gotten a player like Stutz to come to Winthrop.

Who said it was hard to grasp?...Since a LOI is only good for a year I would still want EO to sign a new one in Nov... It would exclude him from signing up with another school for at least 12 months and confirm his loyalty...That's all I am saying

Marshall joins other coaches for Celebrity Golf tourney, playing Golf for Basketball:

Another solid field for the Shox to play against early in the season on a neutural court. However, with it being in KC I certainly hope we pack the place with 4,000 Shocker fans. Normally you get two gimmies at home and as long as you win those you move onto KC to play the big boys.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly confident that the CBE Classic will be next season (2009). This year we have the Old Spice, next year the CBE and then in 2010 we have Maui.
