    I'm giddy! :good:

*TCU and Texas Tech on the road this year with both returning to Koch either next year or the year after.

*Future CBE Classic at the new Sprint Center (2010 or 2011?)... 2 games at Koch and then to KC for the Classic with Texas, Pittsburg and Iowa... get to play the BCSers on a neutral court.

*Mentioned something about taking 2 charters to Orlando for Thanksgiving tournament. He would be happy with 1 win and thrilled with 2. Our youngsters will have to grow up in a hurry and it will be very difficult against this type of competition with a lot of rookies.

*We'll be bigger, quicker and obviously deeper than last year.

*We have several 'finishers' and 'shooters' in this class. He said something about giving it to Toure... whatever he said was clever, but I didn't catch it all.

*Ramon was cleared by the very best and specialized doctors. AJ continued to dislocate his 2nd toe and the surgery should take care of the problem. Yes, Hatch had jaw surgery and told coach he wouldn't go through it again. Mantas appears ready for play and JT has another 5-6 weeks with a walking cast.

*He talked in detail about caddying last weekend and the relationship he and his family built with the player... the golfer is from the Ft. Worth area which is an area we recruit hard.

*He couldn't have recruited this year’s class while at Winthrop... this is simply a higher level of player.
    :good:

*We will have our ups and downs this year because of our youth... when we get this thing cooking and win 25-26 games it will be a lot of fun.

I think he and his family really like Wichita… he mentioned their total involvement in their church, community, Wichita State, etc.

I love listening to him… what a treat.

    :posterwsu:

It's called the "C" play. We give the ball to Toure and see what he can do.

One other thing HCGM said was about Aaron Ellis. He said he didn't know where the idea of Aaron being only 6'7" came about. He said that Aaron has been 6'9" since he arrived. He said Aaron was 181 lbs when he got here and is now 209 lbs.

Jaw surgery huh? Doesn't sound like much fun. When it was mentioned earlier that he'd have surgery I always assumed it had to do with the foot injury he had last year.

I wasn't able to listen yesterday so I appreciate the update guys.

                Granite City

We really enjoyed the afternoon at Granite City. Coach and Lynn Marshall were a true joy to talk to. As has been mentioned here, they seem to love living here. Lynn especially had so many good things to say about Wichita. Their children are fantastic as well.

We kidded Lynn about her antics during the games. Coach made the comment that she tries to "help the officials".

There has been plenty of mention of what Coach had to say on the air, so I will stay with other subjects.

We will probably hear something official about Matt Braeuer and the graduate assistant job soon. Coach was very happy for Dana Ford and of course he mentioned that it also is great that he ended up with a program that WSU recruits heavily.

I asked Coach specifically about the reports we keep hearing about JT's work ethic improvement and he assured me that the reports are true. He was very pleased with the progress JT has made this summer. He indicated that JT understoon the importance of improvement. ;-)

My wife asked Coach if he had made friends with the official who kicked him out of the game in St. Louis. ;-) You can probably imagine his response to that one.

I took it from everything said both on the air and in personal conversation that Coach is very excited. He expects to give the youngsters plenty of opportunity, knowing full well that they will make their share of mistakes. I took it that he expects a very bumpy road with these kids, but some real improvement. He seems to feel so good that all the returners appear to be on the path to improved health. I didn't hear any specific predictions, but believe he expects this year's team to be better, very exciting, but young and inconsistent. I think he is as excited as any of us for the longer term.

Randy Smithson had plenty to say, both on and off the air, about Missouri Valley officiating. On air, he kind of spoke for Coach because Coach has to be careful about what he says. As many of you know, Coach can make his feelings known pretty well on a personal basis.

Randy has really progressed as an on-air personality in my opinion. He will never have the perfect voice, but his knowledge of sports (not just basketball) and his passion serve him well and his phrases, etc. are improving. I don't think I heard "and again" once last night.

Chris Allison and Terrell Benton are always great to be around.

I recommend that everyone who has a chance take the time to attend "The Pressbox" when you have an opportunity.

Speaking of Terrell, did anyone else see him doing the 10pm sportscast on KAKE a couple weeks ago?

Is that a regular thing now or was it just a fill-in?

I recommend everybody send a note to Chris Allison to let him know how much we would like the pre-game show continued. Of course, supporting the sponsors is important too.

I've heard nothing about it not coming back and I suspect it will. Never hurts though to let them know we want it.

I would also like to say that I really enjoyed coming out yesterday and talking to coach Marshall. Since talk of Randy came up I would like to throw my two cents in. I know there are some Shocker fans out there that didn't care for him too much; and I might be one of the few Randy fans so just hear me out. I beleive that without him coming hear to coach, the program would not be where it is today. Here are my reasons:
                                1. When he took over the program he did raise the fan intrest.
                                2. He made the program alot more respectfull to the rest of basketball world.
                                3. I beleive that without this respect, Jim would have had alot harder time getting a coach like MT to come to the WSU.
                                4. Now that Mark is here there is a even greater fan intrest.
                                5. With Mark we were able to get the funding for the new arena.
                                6. With new arena Mark is able to attract a "Better quality player".
                                7. With thses "Better Quality" player Mark takes us to a sweetsixteen.
                                8. The Wichita State job now becomes a very attractive job for a great coach like Marshall.

There are my reasons for giving Randy alot of the credit for our recent success. You can argue with me if you like but I will always have a high reguard for the man. I also agree about the 2 hour pre-game show. I would love to see it stay on the air, by the way who better then Randy for that show? Okay you can beat me up if you want now
