  • Why Three Rivers ?

I had read on another thread that he may be headed to Hutch CC. Hutch would have been logical since it's close to WSU.

I know that we have connections with the coaching staff at TRCC. Could something else be in play ? Maybe we are looking at another player from there or....???

Also, it is the Three Rivers in Poplar Bluff, Mo ...not the one in New England right? I hope so, that's less than 2 hours from Springfield. I will have a better chance to see him play.

I believe Okon the DOBO was an assistant at three rivers for 8 years. He is also the connection that got Orukpe here. DUH!

No need for the DUH! I am aware that Okon came here from TRCC. I just wondered if they had a great "big man" coach or if there was another reason. Hutch / Butler are much closer and it would be easier for him to spend time with his future (hopefully) teamates / coaches and especially the fans !!!

There could be alot of other reasons.

First of all no Jayhawk Conference (JC) school was in the running. Reason: Wichita recruites the JC and does not want to offend the other schools by sending prospect to one in particular. If they did chose to send him to a state JUCO, Hutch, would be the last choice in my opinion because, because they have had a long history of funneling athletes to "the Univesity of Missouri at Lawrence" (KU). I can't recall a basketball player with any talent that Hutch has ever sent to WSU. Callie County would be another choice I would not select because, Steve Eck has done all he could over the last twenty years or so to drive player away from WSU.

Ding, Ding, Ding. And we have our reason for him not going there.

Plus TRCC will allow him to RS one yr,and that deal you just can't beat.

i think its a pretty logical choice with our connections to TRCC.

The Jayhawk conference has a rule that limits its member schools to 5 out-of-state players on the roster at a time. Considering most of the highest level talent in the conference is non-qualifiers from out-of-state, the schools use their full allotment every year. I seriously doubt that there is a single out-of-state spot left on any roster in the conference.

Is this a real possibility? I would imagine this young man is so tired of sitting and wants nothing more than to play the game.

And why would anyone think he would redshirt at TRCC? Doesn't he need real life experience at the American game? Seems to me, he would benefit more on the court.
