  • Recruits across the Big Valley??

When I go to other MVC message boards (like http://www.salukitalk.net/st/index.php or http://thebluejaycafe.com/BB/index.php), I get annoyed when they go on and on and on about their great recruits and don't look at other MVC recruiting classes (like ours!! :D ). Here are some examples: http://www.salukitalk.net/st/viewtopic.php?t=22291, http://www.salukitalk.net/st/viewtopic.php?t=22206 and http://thebluejaycafe.com/BB/viewtopic.php?t=10724.

However, we largely do the same thing. (I'm sure there are exceptions here such as http://www.shockernet.net/sn/viewtopic.php?t=11010 but we could do better.) The following might not be correct; I'm using http://www.panthernation.com/showthread.php?t=17535 and http://www.panthernation.com/showthread.php?t=17979.

    CREIGHTON
    Incoming Recruits/Redshirts/Transfers:
    WF-Tom Whitehead Jr. (Yavapai CC)
PG-Josh Jones Fr. (Central HS, Omaha, Nebraska)
CG-Antoine Young Fr. (West HS, Bellevue, Nebraska)

    SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
    Incoming Recruits/Redshirts/Transfers:
PG-Kevin Dillard Fr. (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Homewood, Illinois)
WG-Torres Roundtree Fr. (McCluer North HS, Florrissant, Missouri)
WG-Ryan Hare Fr. (Marshall HS, Chicago, IL)
PF-Anthony Booker Fr. (McCluer North HS, Florrissant, Missouri)
C- Nick Evans RFr. (Carbondale HS, Carbondale, Illinois)

    WICHITA STATE
    Incoming Recruits/Redshirts/Transfers:
    PG-Clevin Hannah Jr. (Chipola CC)
WF-A.J. Hawkins Jr. (Milwood HS/St. Bonaventure)
CG-Toure Murry Fr. (Klein Forest HS, Houston, Texas)
C- Garrett Stutz Fr. (North Kansas City HS, North Kansas City, MO)
C- Ehimen Orukpe RFr. (Lagos, Nigeria)
    PG-Reggie Chamberlain Jr. (Liberal, KS)
    SG-David Kyles Fr. (Dallas, TX)

Are Booker & Roundtree so great? Who did Illinois State bring in? http://valleytalk.net/showthread.php?t=7033&page=6 ETC.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Chamberlain will be SO not JR.

And I don't believe Orukpe is properly classified as a redshirt freshman.

CU didn't need a big recruiting class....they are already loaded.

SIU's class IS good. My opinion is that they aren't quite as good as SIU fans think....but I'm certain the same thing can be said about ours from the outside looking in.

        Ehimen is a FR....not a redshirt FR.

        We will be fine................... ;-)

Why get annoyed? All fans should be looking on to the season with new hope (unless your Drake and about to fall back into the abyss).

SIU better hope they have a great recruiting class, because frankly Lowery has been living off of other peoples work to this point. That won't be said of Marshall who was left with a cupboard that was bare.

I realized that there were errors in the Panthers to the Bone's posts; I think we all know EO didn't redshirt last year, for example.

Remember 2002: MVC Freshman of the Year: Randy Burns?
Remember 2004 & 5: MVC Player of the Year: Darren Brooks?

Is there another battle brewing for individual honors in the Valley among the new recruits like the Burns/Brooks "battle"? (Among returning players, is the "battle" for POY between Josh Young, Osiris Eldridge & P'Allen Stinnett?)

How does WSU compare with the other teams position-by-position? (OK, we may be one of the few Valley teams that actually has a center.) ETC.

I'm interested in basketball analysis more than homerism. Has anyone see a WSU recruit play a SIU recruit? How did they compare? What about MSU vs. ISU?

Wasn't Stutz on a team with Booker or Roundtree in an all-star game? They are both from Missouri.

Does anyone know anything about Eddren McCain, a recruit from Bradley?

I wonder what substitute word might be used, if I had not introduced "abyss" to the conversation. Maybe "bottomless pit."

PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's basketball team will host Iowa State in its home-opener tonight, but sixth-year Braves head coach Jim Les had his eye on the future this morning with the announcement that two recruits had returned their signed National Letters of Intent.? High school point guard Eddren McCain (Laplace, La./Reserve Christian H.S.) and junior college swingman Chris Roberts (Fort Worth, Texas/Dunbar H.S.) both have signed the NLI's and will join the Braves for the 2008-09 season.

This one is from LaPlace, La.

As odd as it seems, there is another Eddren McCain from Friendswood, Tx that is also 6' and a Point Guard too.

The two Eddren McCain's you found are in fact, one and the same player.
He was originally from the Houston area, then transferred and went to a private school just across the border in Louisiana and played his last 3 years at Reserve Christian.
Some recruiting sites have confused this and list two separate players.

It could be the same player. The article in your link said he was orginally from Houston, which is where Friendswood, Tx is.

edit:-- sorry, you beat me to it

According to Rivals.com, none of WSU recruits is ranked in its top 150, while SIU has two:
                            Anthony Booker @ 44
                            Kevin Dillard @ 137
SIU class may be better :innocent:

MO Sports didn't rank Booker too highly. He had a rather weak SR year from my understanding. I'd still rank the SIU class ahead of ours, but I wouldn't get too carried away with it like some of the SIU fans.
