    1. Y'all will have affection for Reggie C., which ranges from kiss your sister love to a deep, abiding love. This guy can play. He is a very fine shooter. I know I keep saying the same mantra over and over, but I am pretty sure I am going to fall in love with him.

    2. Reggie B. from Plano played today, but he did not get many touches. He is very athletic and has way above average hops for his height. I talked to him briefly and he seems pretty nice.

    3. Ramon played about like he did two days ago except he did not drive as much. He shot quite a few 15'-18' jumpers and with high percentage success. I know y'all don't believe me. You will just have to go out there and see for yourself.

    4. It is not any secret, but David Kyles is an athlete, a top drawer athlete. If he is in the middle on a fast break, look out. If Ramon is in the middle on a fast break, look out.

    5. I will be surprised, if the Shockers do not play fast this year on almost every possession. We have the balance, depth, athleticism and skill. Come the last 10 minutes of the game, our opponents' tongue will be hanging, there will be hands on hips, and hands pulling on shorts at the knees. We are going to run our opponents into the ground.

    6. When I walked into the Koch Arena concourse, I followed a tall, long legged female. I assumed she was a volley ball player. While her legs are slender, they are very muscular. It turns out, she is Miz Marshall.

    7. In the stands, there were 3 young men, who were accompanied by an adult. One of the adults looked like a coach to me and the other 2 adults looked like Dads to me. I was told these kids are recruits. However, I was not given any names.

    8. Tomorrow is the shooting camp. Hold onto your mouse. I was told there are about 40 kids, in whom we have a recruiting interest. No, this does not mean we have offered a scholarship. It merely means Coach has an interest.

In addition to the 40 mentioned above, there will be another 30 in attendance.

The camp begins at 2:00 PM. I was told it is open to the public. I am always nervous about posting this kind of information because I don't want someone to drive out there and then learn the camp is closed to the public.

The starting time was given to me by one of the players, who is attending.

    9. I am pretty sure Coach Marshall is not being out-worked on the recruiting trail.

    10. Did Coach Turgeon ever have shooting camps? I do not remember any.

    11. Forty prospects on our own floor! To me, this is a big WOW!

    12. Garrett was defended by 6-7 and down players in high school. It will be awhile before he makes the college adjustment.

    13. EO is looking more comfortable by the moment. Yesterday, he was standing next to me in the tunnel area. He was holding onto a candy bar - Something Crunch. It caused me to wonder, if there are any candy bars in Nigeria.

Just think about the differences in his daily life, when Nigeria is compared to the United States. No paved roads to paved roads, etc. (Yes, I know there are some paved roads, but not enough to write home about.) Candy bars, running water, etc.

    14. Others playing were as follows: JT, Clevin Hannah, Murry, Michael, Jay Cousinard, Orange Shorts, Wendell, Unknown Kinda Big Body. The Big Body is about 6-5 and he was impressive. He was unknown to all. I do not know who Orange Shorts is.

    15. Aaron, Graham, AJ, Brett B. and Mantas did not play.

    16. I love Daniel Negreanu, but he cannot bring himself to lay a hand down.

If I may, I will add a little to this fine report. I was not in attendance....I will be tomorrow.

      1. Yes. There is a changing of the guards, so to speak. Koch Arena is going to be a fun, fun place this season.

      4. Look out is right. "Posterize" will be a term discussed at length this year.

      5. Even in the early 80s, the speed at which WSU played was more offensive than defensive. You ain't seen nothin' yet.

      6. You should have said "Hi" to Lynn. A nicer person you will not meet. And she can talk hoops all night long.

      7. I would assume that was KM's father and guest. Very friendly, personable folks. They would fit in quite nicely and I think I know why he is here.

8ish. I spoke with Coach Grant and the basketball office to confirm this is an open event. That doesn't mean that it is "for" the fans. You and I are welcome to attend. Show support and respect. They are not there for us tomorrow. But anyone is welcome.

      9. I'm dead certain he isn't.

      10. I'm fairly certain Mark has a better rep with the bluebloods of the game. Gregg has a better rep with the players. I would prefer not to go into more rehashed details here.

      12. I have been in Garrett's corner since the day I met him. I will continue to be, but he will need some time to adjust. I still believe he is going to be a stud, sooner than later. I will not underestimate this young man. I look at the dificulties that the kid from UNI (Jordan Egleseder I think) caused with his size. I am of the opinion Garrett is better, right now. I certainly could be wrong.

      13. I hope everything goes as expected, and I believe it will. Valley teams are in for a big, big shock, at least on the defensive side.

      16. I like Daniel as well.

WuDrWu: What did you think of Pieter van Tongeren, Evansville Fr. C 6-9 last year? (I thought he was taller than 6'9" ... but what do I know?)
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Interesting......I am going off memory only here '316.....I do remember saying to myself "I'm not thrilled this guy is a freshman".

Inconsistent, big (when you said he was 6'9" I too thought he was bigger but that is probably due to the fact that we were so small last year) and he had some good basketball skills. If you ask me to compare him to Garrett.....I'm not certain that I saw him enough to make a fair comparison....I'd say PVT was more physically ready to play but he was still essentially a year ahead of where Garrett is now. Garrett has a lot more offensive skill. Stutz sees the floor like a guard.

I liked what I saw in PVT.....I truly believe if he were in a Shocker uniform, he would have a tough time finding minutes, to say the least.

I forgot to mention something about Garrett. Even though he has the look of a choir boy, he has a little bit of temper. While pick-up games have a lot of contact by its nature, there is a line in the sand. When Garrett thinks some have crossed the line against him, he gets a little testy.

As he matures and gains more confidence, he will push back even more.

It is not easy for a kid like Garrett to push back against someone like Ramon at this point in his college career.

That's interesting Ricky. Several things stood out from the games I watched him play last year.

                      1) He really, REALLY seemed to try to be a teacher on the floor. He understands basketball, as a team sport (something I really appreciate) better than most kids at this level.

                      2) While he, obviously, was bigger than practically everyone he faced, the other team beat him relentlessly. Forearm shivers, stepping on his feet, grabbing, hacking, holding, pulling his uniform......he was abused constantly. He rarely, if ever, was bothered by this, which impressed me.

That being said, I am not shocked by your statement and in fact, it makes me smile.

I can't attend this afternoon so I hope everyone who does gives great reports.

As a side note, have you ever seen Daniel N. get angry? I've watched that man for the past four years and have never heard him raise his voice or say anything heated, even when he is losing. Wish I could say that for myself.
