  • Heights in college basketball

After the pre-draft combine, it became apparent that schools don't just fudge heights a little bit.

Beasley, listed at 6'10" in college was only 6'7" without shoes.

Derrick Rose, listed at 6'4", was only 6'2" in shoes.

Does WSU inflate heights that badly, or is it just the big time programs trying to make their teams sound bigger?

I think everyone adds 1" for the shoes and up to 2" for reputation.

I think Paul Miller was only 6'9", but at least that's not a huge exaggeration.

Which means we'd almost be able to play a defense similar to UNC-Asheville with Kenny George. Leave him in the middle of the lane and see who has the grapes to come down the lane and challenge him. Except our version would seem to be a little more agile.

I actually think Kenny George is as big as they say he is though. When you say someone is that tall, there is surely gonna be someone put a tape measure on him to verify it.

Oh I'm sure he is, I'm not arguing that point, I'm just saying if EO really was 7'3 we'd be able to play that defense

To me, rounding up a 1/2" is okay, anything more is not okay!!!

Heights affect mental attitudes and strategies, and I feel they should be fairly accurate.

I would think the NCAA would have something to say about measuring players heights, or how they are reported.

I am sure that the Shockers do the same thing, but it starts in High School and goes from there.

Go watch some high school basketball and then look at the listed heights in the program.

                  It is comical.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

On the other hand, we have Aaron Ellis who is listed at a good 2 inches SHORTER than he actually is.
