I thought you guys might be interested in this.

There is a story out today about us scheduling South Alabama in basketball, which is where John Pelphrey was coaching. There was a clause in his contact that he would have to schedule them if he left, and it's going to be 2 games here and 2 games there.

Smart on their part. I wonder if that will become more common among mid-majors.

That is an awesome idea! I hope E.S. remembers this for HCGM!

Great! Now when is Arkansas going to schedule a home and home series with its former head coach here in Omaha?

Does his 3 1/2 minutes as head coach count?

Georgia head coach Dennis Felton had the same clause in his contract when he left Western Kentucky to take the Georgia job.

Wasn't that also mentioned when Darren Horn went to South Carolina?

Yes, it was also part of his buyout clause.

After leading his 12th-seeded Western Kentucky squad to a berth in the Sweet 16, Darrin Horn is leaving the Hilltoppers to replace the retiring Dave Odom at South Carolina, according to a published report.

This is nothing new. Not sure why we haven't employed it thus far.

                      Hmmm

It definitely is a good idea, but I personally hope it wouldn't become relevant at WSU for a long time to come.

sure arkansas will step on to the tarmac in Omaha, do a pig cheer and then reboard the plane and go home. That would be about fair I think. :D

The Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register reported in its Thursday edition that Arkansas and South Alabama, coach John Pelphrey's former employer, had agreed on a four-year series. The Razorbacks and Jaguars, according to the report, will play twice at South Alabama and twice in Arkansas, with the series starting on Nov. 26 at the Mitchell Center in Mobile.

South Alabama athletic director Joe Gottfried told the Press-Register that there was a clause in Pelphrey's South Alabama contract requiring him to schedule the Jaguars whenever he left Mobile.

I think those kind of clauses are good. It isn't gonna kill the big boys to actually play someone that isn't quite a cupcake and do it on the road to boot.
