There is no reason that Doug should not be more friendly towards WSU. He is from the area, competed against us with mixed results and followed us fairly closely during the S16 run. Something has stuck in his craw about us and what that is I have no idea but he has seemingly enjoyed taking shots at us whenever possible over the last couple of years.

I can promise you Gregg will enjoy correcting either of those 2 narcissistic bastadges whenever the opportunity arises. Predicting failure and questioning judgement of HCGM is not a particularly wise course of action, imho.

If that’s not bulletin board material for everyone associated with the program then I have no idea what is.

I'm not sure how Katz got the gig he has. He isn't all that insightful, interesting, or intelligent. Gottlieb, on the other hand, is as good as it gets. Absolutely phenomenal at what he does.

Somehow, I think Doug's attitude towards WSU stems from us not hiring one of the Sutton's (Eddie) as Head Coach, and giving him the chance to finish his career on a positive note.

The only Sutton available at the time was Eddie. Did he express any interest in the job? Scott didn't interview for whatever reason, and Sean was still at OSU. And why would DG be upset at us about that? We wanted and needed NEW blood, not alcohol-saturated (God will get me for that one probably). We also wanted a vibrant, young, energetic coach, which we got in spades. None of those words describe Eddie Sutton. ES had his day and did well by it. But he wasn't for us.

Well that tournament is pretty brutal ...

But in the paraphrased words of Lew Brown, hopefully the Shockers will go down there, win a few games, get to the postseason and give them all a big **** burger to eat.

I agree 100% about Eddie, but Dougie played for Eddie, and I'm sure has different feelings about the man.

I always look forward to hearing commentary from the worst shooting point guard in the history of NCAA basketball, including all divisions.

Katz has the best connections in national college basketball media coverage but obviously his strengths aren't in live game commentary. That's why he's not featured very often during games, and when he is, he's the courtside reporter, not a commentator.

I would submit that anyone in that position with that network would have those connections. He is used to get the information out the way they want it out in situations where they can't be the ones directly commenting on it.

Nothing is different. They both picked us to lose early in our S-16 run. Those guys all (including Vitale) have BCS BS running thru their veins. We will have to prove ourselves on the court and I'm sure over the next few years HCGM will leave no doubt that he made the correct decision.

As far a $$$ go, don't we pay HCGM more than the new coach at SC makes ? I'm glad that we are stepping up and paying "Major" $$$ instead of "Mid" $$$. I think that HCGM looked around late in the season and probably couldn't beleive the Chuck was SOLD OUT. DG and AK have no idea that in Mark Turgeons words, "WSU is a Major program in a Mid Major league".

I'm not an SC expert but I don't think that SC has ever enjoyed the sucess that WSU has in any sport other than football. Have they ever made any kind of run in the NCAA ? None that I am aware of but they still get the hype because of the conference they play in.

I have seen many coaches who were the toast of the MVC leave for a low level BCS and get buried in a few years. Dana Altman came from a low level BCS school to CU and is very well respected around the country. I beleive that HCGM will get to that level sooner rather than later.

Gottlieb and Katz both talk out of their arse's. Doug especially needs to drink something to wash the bug out of his.
                            :-x

The one year SC was supposed to do well in the NCAA tournament, they were a 2-seed under Fogler. They lost in the first round to a 15-seed. I think it was Coppin St.

Frank McGuire was their coach in the early 70's ....Best player was Alex English. They had some success but agreed nothing that compares to WSU.
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"
