    Agreed.

The case is probably even complicated more by the speculation that Marshal was a candidate for that job. I suspect the SC coach may be worried that people would say "See, we should have hired Marshall instead" if WSU were to win.

Other options could be Georgia Tech or Mississippi State.

Those were exactly my thoughts as well.

Is Georgia looking for a home and home? That'd let Noel get a nice close look :D

Miss. St. is a good bet to start the season in the top 25 and could play their way into the top 10 this next year (if certain players stay out of the draft).

I'm not sure I'd like to play at their place this year (which would be likely, with a return game the following year).

If GT can add the kid that pulled his LOI from Arizona, plus the top 40 kid they've already signed, they could be a deadly team this season also, considering they didn't lose much from last year.

I'm just sayin': I hope there's better options than these 2.

            think long term.
while we might lose these away games to much more experienced players, we will learn from it and gain experience. then when they come to our house a year later we will be in a much better postion to win.
and if we do finally lose to a BCS school, that will ease the stress of other BCS schools and maybe they will play us more often.
08-09 season is just practice for an legit MVC title contending 09-10 season... to me anyway.

Honestly, there really isn't a team out there that HCGM would be scared to schedule, at least I don't think there is. A southeastern school would be very logical, with the recruiting of that region and all. SC is out. Like sub and others said with the coach not wanting to get shown up by another candidate for the same job. Plus that would give the fans a good look at Aaron Ellis and make them hate the admissions office even more.

I would love to see WSU schedule a "Big Time" program to a home and home. Even if they lose next year, the return trip to Wichita could be awesome. Maybe even be moved downtown to accomodate the 5000+ other Shocker fans that can't get tickets to games.

What's wrong with scheduling Marquette or VCU? They are looking for a HH series.

If a big game is moved downtown I know of at least 4 seats that will be empty. The Shocks need a homecourt advantage not a neutral court ad. I am not entirely opposed but until marshall's team's start winning regularly I believe they should stay in friendly, familiar confines.

I wouldn't complain with either of those schools. I think everyone is throwing out "bigger" schools than VCU because of how it would appear. We all know VCU can play. I am interested to see what Marquette does under new leadership. And it appears they're only looking for guarantee games. I'm not sure if we've got the HH thing figured out of not yet. But they don't really fit the SE thing that I think many of us are looking for.

Although if we wanted some west coast action Santa Clara wouldn't be bad. Not the "name" program but usually a fairly decent one and looked pretty good last year.

Again not a "name" program, but USA might be one to keep an eye on in the future. I think they're building a decent program as they've signed some decent recruits and I really like Ronnie Arrow.

I will admit I don't like taking one and dones, but Duke is one of the few I'd consider.

New Mexico is a team on the rise. We have been seeing more names in the SW pop up and Albuquerque isn't really that far of travel. And if I could work it out it'd give me another excuse to go down there and see a couple of friends.

Mizzou is looking for some action...

Gonzaga would be GREAT. We've all wanted that game to take place for quite a while. Would definitely have a shot at TV.

Looks like DePaul is looking for HH games starting 09-10. Not really an area we've done a lot of recruiting but it wouldn't be a bad game. Some Chicago action couldn't hurt as there's quite a bit of talent in Ill.

I'd consider doing one with Tulane. Obviously not a big "name" but they have signed a number of pretty good recruits the last couple years and are in the SE. LA isn't one we've seen a lot of names though.

Nebraska would get us a B12 school, but I don't think they'd want to get beat by yet another Valley team since CU smacks them around every year.

I wouldn't be opposed to a HH with North Texas. We've discussed their improved recruiting before. It would give us a little more Texas exposure and again, isn't all that far to travel.

So I went through the entire list and picked the ones I wouldn't mind considering, but based upon what's posted on there for us it appears the HH we're looking for may already be wrapped up or close to it as we're only looking for some home $$$ games.

I pretty much agree. Although I'd still be in attendence. If the only way we can get a particular team is to do 2 neutral games then we may do it. But we shouldn't be looking to use IBA just to get a couple thousand more people in attendence.

But you have to do what it takes to get the better teams on your schedule and onto your turf. It might be a neutral game, but playing a team from the East coast at IBA wouldn't exactly be neutral. The only way that it would turn on WSU would be if it were against KU or KSU. Any others and that's still a home game.

I know it wouldn't exactly be neutral but it's not as good as having them in CKA. If they want to play a "neutral" game around them and then one at IBA I may be fine with it. The "neutral" part of it is almost never neutral but gives an excuse to play somewhere without play AT the school. But we should never pull at Wyoming and plany a home and neutral with us having the neutral.

I view IBA as a useful tool in two scenarios:

                              1) Land games against elite programs. Examples: Texas - 1 Austin, 1 IBA, and 1 Dallas.
                              KU - 1 Allen, 1 IBA, and 1 Sprint

                              2) Set up 2 "neutral" site games. Examples:
                              KSU - 1 Sprint and 1 IBA
                              OU/OSU - 1 Ford and 1 IBA
