  • To ShockerNet

I’d like to thank all of you for contributing to this site and making it the best message board on the planet. We truly do have a wonderful community here and a great University to discuss. I've obviously spent a fair amount of time discussing numerous topics with you all and have enjoyed most of it. It's nice to be able to come together and celebrate and complain about a common passion.

A few of the posters are real life friends of mine. mvc champs and I go to STL together for the Valley Tourney. Clarensauce has introduced me to some new friends and quite a bit of music. He was also my boss at one stop. I've watched many a game with dregn and company and thoroughly enjoy his knowledge of sports. I've also gone to STL with him and his crew a couple of times. sdshox is another guy I've known. He was a boss of mine at the Y before getting an offer to go home. Spent some time with him in STL as well.

A couple of you I've met for ticket exchanges. Doc, ShockCity, ShockBand and the Moose. RDR has hooked me up with tix but I never met the man.

I know Rip and newshock through other avenues. Newshock from the YMCA and Rip from a few more unfortunate encounters. But I'm not sure if either one knows who I am or not.

I met andygump363 a couple summers ago at a pickup game. He was rather pleasant and seemed to have a fairly good grasp of things. Which just goes to prove that not all of us are complete freaks :D

I've officiated and gone to camps with shockerfanmas. Even though he doesn't see eye to eye with many of you, or me sometimes, he's a good guy who is passionate about the same things we are.

JaminShock and I have a mutual friend or two. But have never crossed paths officially. Even though I later found out that he and his wife sat right behind me one game.

I'd bet many of us have met and spent time talking to J&J Ryan. Although I wonder what name he posts under now that he's gone.....

I coached AndShock a few years back and think he's a wonderful kid. A bright and intelligent individual who’s a great asset to Shocker Nation.

Then I know of one lady who posts on here but I can’t figure out who the heck she is and she won’t tell me. I’ll figure it out one of these days…

Together, regardless of how many and who you know on here, we have come together to have a lot of fun and share a lot of thoughts and memories of Shocker Athletics.

I plan on enjoying the next 10,000 posts as much, if not more than, the first 10,000. And I look forward to a few of you joining me so I don’t look like such a freak. And hopefully I’ll run into a few of you at a pickup game or inside the Chuck or even in the Lou.

So, in reflecting back about all the time I've wast....spent here and thinking about all the great things we have ahead of us, I could only think of one thing that's fitting to end the 10,000th post on.

    God bless you all!

I have seen history made. You are a truly wonderful shocker fan and poster. I respect you and your opinion. You need to get to 20000 quick so something this deep can be posted on shockernet again soon. Good luck and I agree that most people on here are good. Som I don't necessarily appreciate, fastbow rip and others. But they all love the shockers and love the teams and kids.

Sub - I would someday like to meet you. You have a good head on your shoulders. Even though there are some years between our ages, I have enjoyed reading your posts. You are one of the Shockernet posters I referred to in a previous post that has taken time to answer my questions, no matter how third-grade they may have seemed. The future sure looks bright for our Shoxs and I can hardly wait for the season to start (even though I think I will enjoy 09-10 maybe a little more than 08-09).

Oh, and by the way, I'm glad you're not worried.

            Re: To ShockerNet

Sub... you're simply one of the best! :good:

Here's a short story that made me think of you and your wonderful attitude for life:

'The Law of the Garbage Truck'

"One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly, so I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so..... 'Love the people who treat you right. Wish the ones who don't well.' Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!"

shockerfan1, I appreciate the words. Give me a couple years and I'll get to 20k for ya. Yes, there are posters that aren't going to sit well with others, but if we can understand that we all have the same passion here and all want the same goal for our Shox we can live in relative harmony.

Shox21, no problem. I understand that not everybody has necessarily spent as much time around and/or learning certain things as others. There's no sense in putting down those who may not have quite the understanding of some things as others. But the more understanding one has the more they can appreciate the game. At least that's my theory. I love answering question and helping others where I can. Always feel free to ask a question of me when it comes to basketball. I'll do my best to answer and if I can't, I'll tell you such. Then I'll find it.

Cold, that made me laugh. I've always enjoyed your view of things. Your wit is good and though you do push buttons, and do it well, I enjoy it for the most part. Your understanding of things is very high and that makes it all the more fun. And irritating depending who you ask :P

goshocks, grab a tissue and smile. You'll feel better :D

WstateU, I appreciate that post as well. I've seen that story before and never equated it to me as I struggle with those issues like everyone else. But I do try to be as much like that as I can. Being associated with it is kind of you and if I were a lesser man, I may tear up a bit  :D

1-7-11----10,000 Mississippi. You did it SubGod22! My spin is that you are to ShockerNet what the X-Man was to WSU basketball. X was our work-horse and just kept getting better at snagging those rebounds and scoring points. Likewise, here on SN, you diligently bring us fresh recruiting news and solid perspectives on Shocker basketball. For that, I am very grateful. Thanks for your industrious efforts and your extensive and contagious passion for these Big Dance bound Shockers!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

If some sports site did a bracket for fan boards, SubGod22 would be on the All-Tournament team of posters...
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

Sub was one of the first 30 or so to register when we unveiled this version of SN nearly three years ago. He posted early and often. Not only does he have the most posts, he probably also has the most quality posts.

Way to go SG!!! Take a  !

FSF, you've been a blast my man, but there's no way I should be mentioned in the same sentence as X. I do what I can and love recruiting. So I'll always be active there. A few others have really picked up there as well and that's great as they find info that I can't or don't have access to. The recruiting forum has really become a fun place to get info on a number of recruits.

                            60. I have a method that helps me fly through most of the recruiting info. It's a passion of mine and I'm glad so many of you have enjoyed it. Trop really keeps me on my toes in there. I can't let him break all the stories on new recruits. And a few others have really made that forum great. Downtown, SW, Doc and ShockRef. A few others too but I'm barely awake at the moment and drawing blanks.

Royal, a lot of thanks goes to you and your admins. When I first found the EZ board I felt pretty much at home and was treated well. That kindness from everyone helped me feel I was able to contribute without being hammered for being the new guy. You run a top rate board and one that's finer than any I've ever been a part of. This community wouldn't be anywhere close to what it is if it weren't for the time and dedication you guys have put forth.

WeWillShockU, I hope you've enjoyed most of them. And hope you enjoy the many more that'll follow.
