Hey, I don't like stirring things up. I just met an extended family member who indicated that Cheese would love for his kid to come here and has been working to make that happen. Chedder lives in Atlanta, so it's not like this is a logical choice for him. My point is that the family was not happy about the sales pitch ending when the kid rose to great basketball heights.

I also was told that Marshall immediately started calling the kid.

Again, this is from a family member. I have to take them at their word.

I really don't follow Big 12 recruiting much.

Wasn't that a Shaq FU song. Or was he Shaq Diesel?
technically it was FU Schickens featuring Shaquille O'Neal.
After this song was released is when they started started referreing to Shaq as Shaq Fu.

Man I miss Fu Schickens. If I could only get those years back.
My man's droppin' knowledge on Fu Schnickens, that takes me back.

I was always a "Leaders of the New School" kinda guy. And by guy I mean 12 years old. They feature a young Busta Rhymes.

Why would Turgeon back off Noel if the kids own father was open to him coming to WSU? That does not make sense.

I'm guessing that in spite of the father's wishes, Noel may not have been very open to WSU. And perhaps Turgeon didn't feel like we had a legitimate shot and felt our recruiting resources would be better spent elsewhere.

The family being unhappy about dropping recruitment is different than the player being unhappy about it.

I have no information either way, but the inference is that MT didn't want to start recruiting him (NJ) here, knowing that he (MT) would be leaving and that he (MT) would rather recruit him (NJ) at his next stop, A & M.

Not so sure. As evidenced by the fact that recruits asking out of their LOIs soon after a coach leaves, recruits sign with the coach and not the school.

Someone said it earlier in this thread. Even if he knew he was leaving, why not still develop the player-coach relationship on WSU's dime anyway?
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Your scenario does make sense and is more understandable.

However, Shocktoberfest stated that Turgeon voluntarily stopped recruiting Noel because "he was too good to be a Shocker" and, despite his apparent altruism, the family was not happy about it. I guess I have a hard time believing that anyone would back off a player of Noels caliber, especially when the kid's family has a good history with your basketball program, because he is "too good".

                              I am not following.

With all the previous staff now ensconced in Tejas, who is left to receive the change in attitude?

Nevertheless, Little Cheese would be a great recruit for us.

To address, the previous staff had little or no interest in pursuing the mentioned recruit. The formers felt there was minimal chance of landing said recruit and therefore felt their efforts would be better served in other areas.
The new regime has a different outlook and has initiated contact with him. The interest is apparently mutual. That is all.

If Turgeon actually did this he should be drawn and quartered.

If not, those of you spreading this unsubstantiated rumor should likewise follow suit.
