  • 7-Game Non-Con Ticket Packs Available

WICHITA, Kan. – The Shocker Ticket Office will have a limited number of non-conference men's basketball ticket packages available for sale, beginning Monday, Aug. 28 at 8:30 a.m.

The seven-game packages are priced $275 each, with a portion designated for the Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization (SASO). Fans may purchase them in person at the Shocker Ticket Office, by phone (978-FANS), or online at goshockers.com/tickets while supplies last.

Not sure where these are located but I'm guessing somewhere above the pep band.

Partial Season Ticket Plan (7 Games):
Nov. 4 – Henderson State (Exhibition)
    Nov. 10 – UMKC
Nov. 13 – College of Charleston
    Nov. 28 – Savannah State
Dec. 5 – South Dakota State
    Dec. 19 – Arkansas State
Dec. 22 – Florida Gulf Coast

A limited number of full season tickets remain including a few prime location (read high-priced) season tickets.

$39 and change to sit above the pep band is an indication of what the public is willing to pay. Those are the cheapest seats in the building - and that's only for the games that typically don't have all the seats filled.

That's beyond my pay grade, but I will let some people know who don't track goshockers.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

The article on kansas.com indicates the American Conference requires 165 seats reserved for visiting team. WSU is selling these 165 seats as a package for the non-con. Any chance these are actually closer to the opposing teams bench?

I assume the 165 seat block the visiting AAC teams is behind the opponents bench. If any of these come available they will probably be significantly higher than $39 per seat but it looks like a partial season ticket holders will receive notifications about those tickets along with full season ticket holders.

As far as the Mini-Packs I called the ticket office to see where this Mini-Pack seats are located. The ticket agent had to check. He said they were all in the top 4 rows spread around 4 or 5 sections but he couldn't tell me what sections those are. These tickets don't go on sale until August 28th.

I would check back with them on Monday. This guy didn't seem very confident in what he was telling me.

          Here is the Eagle article.

The non-conference opponents still get a block of tickets for their guests of players/coaches and what not. It's just not as many. They probably get like 50, not 165. So in actuality, there are probably only like 100-some tickets that will be available for these non-conference mini-packs.

So maybe about 50 of these tickets behind the opponents bench (at most) and then the rest scattered around 4 or 5 sections in the top 4 rows.

Having to set aside 165 tickets is probably not quite as big a deal to most of our conference brethren.

What AAC conference home games do you think will have the least visitors traveling?
Why walk somebody in baseball when you can hit them?

I wonder how the American Conference arrived at that 165 number?

The Valley's current rules are Fifty (50) complimentary admissions shall be issued to the visiting team; at least 25 seats must be located directly behind the visiting team bench. I assume that is the same as recent years.

The American Conference has a Sports Policies section on their website and it includes links to all sports except football and men's and women's basketball. I suspect that some part of of that 165 has to be directly behind the bench just not sure how many.

The comment on the ticket office rep not knowing where in the arena these seats are irks me. What is everyone's experience with the ticket office, in particular compared to other universities if you have experiences elsewhere also? From my experience WSU's ticket office has remained very much mid-major at best, and needs to step up its game big time.

In this case, they prepare this ticket package, coordinate with Sully to publish an article on it... every single person in the office should be prepped with all the details so they can answer those kind of questions when the calls start coming in once the article is published. I'm no marketer, but that seems like marketing / customer service 101 to me. People want to give you money... make it easy for them.

I don't look forward to most interactions with the ticket office, since more often than not when dealing with them I encounter a of lack of knowledge and/or lack of giving a #2. For example, I have on multiple occasions been shuffled back and forth between the ticket office and Alumni Assoc when it comes to travel/ticket arrangements for NCAA games, road games, and Maui/similar in-season tournaments because they aren't coordinated and no one seems to care to serve the customer by understanding and helping with the whole picture. Or for tickets to road games they just say 'you have to contact the other school' rather than even offer to source tickets for you. It increasingly seems like they view the ticket buying public as problems to be dealt with rather than customers to be assisted and who pay their salaries. I figure the service experience has to be much better if you're a big donor or otherwise have the right connections in the atheletic dept. But I can't imagine that other elite programs accept this kind of mediocrity in customer-facing areas even for the average season ticket holder?

This rant needs to be conveyed to the ADDB's office if it is to have any impact.

So do I need to call UConn or WSU to buy a pair of the 165 WSU tickets they have reserved at Gampel and/or the XL Center for men's and women's games? Or should I assume they are all allocated to family and donors that travel with the team? Would be nice to sit with the WSU contingent instead of being a lonely black & gold fan amongst a sea of Huskies.

I assume you would neeed to call WSU. I think there is good chance WSU won't use the full 165 ticket alotment for the UConn road game. You need to do this before WSU releases any of their unclaimed alotment back to UConn. Not sure what the lead time on that is but the WSU ticket office should be able to tell you that at some point. I wouldn't think those would be turned back to UConn more than a week before the game but that's just a guess.
