Has anyone heard how Mantas is doing? Has he or is he healing up? Has he started working out?

  • #2
I was walking through the arena today and saw him coming out of the training room, and i asked him how he was doing. He said he just got doing the swim-ex and the rest of his rehab. He said he's not allowed to run yet, but sometime in may he should be able to. Let's just hope he can keep up the hard work this summer if he goes home or anything.

A healthy Mantas would be a huge boost.

Mantas showed nothing even when he was healthy. I guess anything is a boost when you have so few players though.

He was definitely improving right when he got injured.

Two games immediately before the injury:

Jan 19 @ SIU: Mantas Griskenas collected 11 points with 3-of-3 shooting from three-point range and brought down five boards.

                Jan 16 @ Ill St.: 8 pts (2 of 4 3's) and 3 boards in 20 minutes.

Call me crazy but I kind of like 6' 7" guys who do this.

Agreed. Mantas appeared to be settling into the division I game right before he got injured. There is a reason he was a first team JUCO All American.

He is one of our returning players and anyone who is not hopeful that he comes back healthy, strong, and capable of resuming where he left off certainly isn't a Shocker fan.

I really do hope he is capable of "resuming where he left off." It took him what I consider an inordinate amount of time to get to where he was when he got hurt. I hope it was just getting familiar with Marshall's system that took him that long and NOT a fear of injuring the knee he had hurt before. If it is the latter, and since it is the OTHER knee he hurt this time, now he has both knees to worry about reinjuring and we may not see much out of him this year. I really hope this is not the case.
