  • Vegas tourneys?

When's the last time we were are a participant in a Vegas tournament? Have we been back since the infamous Cooz buffet poisoning debacle? Just seems like a long time since we've played there and I've got a serious itching to pay a visit.

Anyone else like to head to Sin City to catch the Shox? Let's face it the vast majority of the fanbase can't afford to travel outside the 48 states to catch a tournament but Vegas is much more feasible.

I haven't been to Vegas since 2006. It was just a bad basketball dream. The wife and I had fun but I want to forget the basketball.

I seem to remember Boatright dismissing the idea of playing in Vegas tournaments, saying something to the effect that it would be a bad message to send to student-athletes. "Don't engage in gambling activities, but we'll take you to places that allow our fans to do that."

I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with that...but I do remember that explanation.

It seems doubtful anyone at WSU would say this given that the Battle for Atlantis is literally played in a casino ballroom.

Posting on mobile so if someone could fix the link, I'd appreciate it. Here's where I found the quote.

Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

I guess Boatright wasn't yet aware of the Atlantis setup when he said that. LOL

I like Vegas a lot, but after that weekend, I can't see returning, for WSU at least. That was a painful weekend.

That stance seems a little inconsistent/hypocritical considering Atlantis. Come on throw your fans a bone that can't afford Atlantis/Maui.

Then again I'll respectfully defer to GM if he genuinely doesn't care for the Vegas atmosphere...

I believe Dan Muller was in between coaching gigs at that time and working the buffet line at that tournament.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

American Conference Tournament @ the MGM Grand!

Won't happen, but would be fun!

                              While fun, not the same!

Plus, Vegas is pretty cheap and easy to get to.
