This guy seems to have some experience. I'd give him a shot.

The hire depends on whether HCGM is looking for an AC or an AHC.

Typically you don't hire an AHC. AHC positions are usually earned on the job through performorance and tenure. There are exceptions, of course, such as when 3G just essentially hired Chris Jans back with the AHC title and when Keitha Adams hired her top assistant from UTEP, Ewa Laskowska, as her AHC at Wichita State. Of course both were in those same positions with those head coachs for multiple years.

For 3G to bring someone in as AHC he would have to have a very good relationship of trust and respect for that person over a number of years. About the only on I am aware of that might qualify for that would be Greg Heiar. Maybe their or others that would fit that mold but not sure who that would be.

Most likely his staff will add another AC and then we'll see if any of the current staff grow into the AHC role just as Chris Jans did with 3G and Ewa Laskoska did with Keitha Adams.

Someone mentioned Devon Smith as potential assistant coach; he is a good guy.

What a phenomenal group - so 3G has time to be picky.

Yes, the stable is far from empty...

Yes and no, in my opinion.

There are 7 scholarships to fill and scouts that need done on an entire new conference worth of teams. Not exactly the time to be operating short-handed. Also not the time to knee-jerk in to a poor hire.

The list of applicants should be long and accomplished, though.

I could see Greg Lansing as a possibility. Maybe only a one percent possibility but still a possibility.

I've wondered about Devon Smith for several years. He's got some outstanding credentials. The only thing that really makes sense for his being in the position he's in is that he may not be comfortable recruiting.

Greg, Geno Ford or Randy Peele would have HC experience.

My gut tells me we'll hire another assistant (not an AHC) with JuCo and/or AAC experience.
