Years ago, Bradley had a player named Patrick O'Bryant, a 7-footer who led them to the round of 16 in 2006 (beating the Chickenhawks along the way, incidentally -- one of their numerous missteps against Missouri Valley opponents the last 10 years or so). O'Bryant left early for the pros and had a cup of coffee in the NBA, but before he left he became known around here for calling Koch Arena the loudest place he'd ever played -- "even when it's quiet it's loud."

That's it in a nutshell. It isn't so much anti-Intrust as it is a case of rabid support for Koch Arena, similar to what the Dukies feel for Cameron Indoor or the reverence our fellow midlanders in Stillwater OK have always had for Gallagher(-Iba) Hall/Arena, especially before it was expanded.

        • LOL what are you talking about? I'm 5'10" and have no problem. Sure it's a little tight, but... it's an arena... I can sit or stand just fine.

          • I expect they will keep season tickets the same, BUT the package will include one less home game, so two home games at IBA that is not part of the season package. They will use that extra game to increase revenue. Fans can't get mad they will get one less game because 1) The quality of the teams are greatly increased and everyone will be excited to see new teams 2) Fans that can't afford Koch can potentially get tickets for an IBA AND drink alcohol at the game (besides those fortunate souls who manage to sneak into the champions club of course).

It's all speculation but if they are replacing buy games with H/H games, that will mean more than one game I would think. Maybe 2-3 more.

Have you sat down low? I have for all but one and it always seems loud to me.

Doc and I found a parking garage in Indy right across the street from the arena. SWEET! We probably waited an hour to get out of there after the Kentucky game. Not so sweet.

                  • Wasn't it Baylor who we scrimmaged before the final four or undefeated season? I remember a quote of 3G about realizing them WSU was going to be really good that year.

Go to ANY arena in the country (many bigger than IBA) and see how the parking works. It's the EXACT same situation. You can't put 8,000 parking spots within 200 feet of an arena entrance. It's not possible. Basic physic laws don't allow for it. It's not hard to understand.

I personally don't have a problem with the parking situation at IBA, I also know a bunch of people that DO have a problem with it. Many of them are simply angry that we did not get all that we were promised on the arena vote. Those folks may be unreasonable, they also exist and I get to hear about the parking every time any event at IBA is brought up so I thought i'd mention it as 1 of many reasons people prefer CKA to IBA.

BTW why do you feel the need to personally attack every poster that you don't agree with? "And lol if you think parking garages are a part of the solution, then you're clueless."
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Speaking for myself, I don't mind paying for convenient parking and I don't mind walking a reasonable amount. To walk from Old Town or Century II, I consider excessive. Especially at that time of night in those areas of town. What is going to be interesting is, if they start the new construction of LD Stadium before the NCAA and can no longer use the parking there to shuttle people to IBA.

                        • This gets us another notch closer to having a Gonzaga-like non-conference schedule. Perceptions matter and our perception just keeps improving.

Most people I know that complain about parking at the arena were people that voted no to it anyways or have never really been out of the city of Wichita and have no idea how major city arenas work. Parking for IBA is WAY better than most arenas.

Oh, my goodness, THIS....I once parked 11 blocks away for a Cardinals game, 12 blocks for the Big 12 Football Championship, and two MILES away for a Big 10 football game. IBA is cake
