Yet, stare into the reflection long enough and the inner-most thoughts are exposed.

I'm going to miss Gregg Marshall.

There, it's been said ... in print no less. Sound crazy? You bet. No one is more surprised than the guy in the mirror.

Here's the thing. Marshall is the antagonist every good story needs. It's nearly impossible to have edge-of-your-seat drama without one, and no one is better theater than Marshall...."

From the comments on that story:

ISU needs to finish the Hancock renovation and seek affiliation with an FBS/all sports conference like the MAC, C-USA, or the Hail Mary option of the Big 12.
The Big 12? The Big 12. The BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG 12.

The only way ISU gets into the Big 12 is as the janitor.

My best advice for an ISU fan is to become a fan of some other team.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I've perused some Valley boards since this has become official. Wow, the soreness and jealousy on many of them is quite high. They're mad because they're stuck in an afterthought league that will be only thought about during conference tourney time. CBS will be gone. St. Louis will be gone. Relevance will be.. well gone.

It's absolutely hilarious watching UNI fans, Redturd fans, Missouri State fans, etc. think they will be inline for FBS relevancy. My God, are those fanbases delusional. They can barely keep afloat in the Valley and they think they're moving up or even wanted by anybody?

Equally hilarious watching Bradley, Drake, and EU fans (lol) taking pot shots at WSU. Those loser programs are trash and will always be trash. Have fun competing for the 300 RPI spot on a yearly basis. Division II would be the best available options for those irrelevant afterthoughts.

Glad to be done with the sewage and in a league with similar profiles and competitiveness.

        So long, ankle biters.

Fev has been spending time in the minors, all these MVC years, waiting for the opportunity to take his shot on a site like The Boneyard!

Not going to peruse their boards, but what the h*ll did they think was going to happen to them with their schools', fans', and states' lack of support? If they wanted to avoid this, their presidents needed to be creative and get with the program or tell the fans just what would happen to their athletics if they didn't. No mystery here. In what universe was WSU suppose to support their schools for them? They wanted FCS football, so it cost them basketball relevance.

The MVC should have done what they're thinking of doing now when CU left. Find the 3 very best basketball schools they could get, Loyola not being one of them, and go to a 12 team conference.

I do feel bad for Bradley. Their timing for being down was the worst. Also, IN St as they always seemed to more with less than any other school.

Best thing that could have happen to the Valley would have been to have had minimum requirements of financial support for athletics. If you don't meet those minimums and your athletics did poorly, particularly the best revenue sports, then the school risks getting dropped by the conference if it has a better, committed school wanting in. Over time, schools would all generally land in conferences of similar financial levels.

UNIs fan base might be the most delusional fan base in the country. Absolutely unable to comprehend that they mean ZERO on the national radar.

But their coach does the most with the least support!

You can put all the spices and sauces you want on a turd, but in the end you are still going to be left with a **** product.

Valleywise, for me has to be 2006. My wife and I travelled to our first NCAA tourney games in Greensboro and DC. After winning all of the Shocker fans chanting "MVC" as Bradley had won and was also advancing to the Sweet 16. 4 teams (WSU, Bradley, SIU (0-1), Northern Iowa (0-1) to the Dance and 2 to the Sweet 16, is quite an accomplishment for any conference but when it comes by knocking off Seton Hall, Tennessee, Kansas, & Pittsburgh, it's a good season.

This is my fondest Valley memory in my 46 years.

That's being a little rough. Their presence in D-I basketball is relative new. In the last 13 years, they have made the Dance seven times, getting to the round of 32 four times, and S16 once by knocking off 1 seed KU. They've won 6 Valley tournament championships and 2 regular season titles. They are also very well known nationally for the 35 second melt down to Texas A&M. Not everyone can do that. Even if they tried.

My point is that they are so proud that they dont have to lift a finger or give their coach any support, and he takes them that far. Think of what he would do at UCONN.

Good accomplishments for sure but some of their butthurt fans think they are on par with WSU.

                        NOT. EVEN. CLOSE.

Speaking of nostalgic, I happened to come across the 2013 Final Four DVD today and just got finished watching it. First time I've done so in 4 years. Pretty amazing watching that thing. What a masterful production by Intake Studios. Absolutely first-class. Just some great, GREAT moments put together perfectly by this production.

I wish they did more of these DVD's, even in a season by season basis. I'd pay a chunk of change for it. Even though the undefeated season ended a little earlier than we all wanted it to, I think they missed another chance to capture that amazing season on a DVD package like this.

Anyway, if you get a chance, dust off your copy and flip it on. You won't regret it especially if you haven't watched it in a while.

I made the mistake of trying to watch it the day we lost to Miami last year in the NCAA Tournament. It just made me depressed. At some point in the next few weeks, I will have to break that out and watch it again.
