  • Good News for MVC!

Look on the bright side. We will be freeing up about 7 or 8 spots on the ALL MVC Teams including COY and POY to help the MVC spread around more consolation prizes. They're really going to be reaching to fill these teams out next year.

Yes. Clearly they demonstrated that they needed help giving those awards to non-WSU participants.

Honest question: why would the Valley expand? Why not continue with 9 members? They would have more cash to spread to those members from the 1 bid league it's become from the NCAA payout. By then only having 16 league games, they could each take on another buy-game or 2 with some of the P5 big boys. Must the conference have 10 members?

What seed do you think the Arch Madness winner will get next year? It's so depressing to think about. It's like driving by a bad car accident. You know you shouldn't look but you just can't help yourself.

Another thought: could they bring back bracket busters with some other 1 bid leagues to be played after Arch Madness? A final showdown between conferences before Selection Sunday (if the tournament continues to be played the week preceding.).

That's a great question. I think it honestly has a lot to do with being a low self-esteem conference. You always feel better about yourself in larger numbers.

I wish them the best and hope the MVC has better days ahead.

I don't care about the MVC. I do hope Bradley finds a home in the A10. I hope UNI, ISUr, ISUb and SWOMO find a good home for whatever their goals are and I don't think they all have the same goals. I hope Drake and Evansville go to D2.

I'm guessing around a 13 or 14. Which means we could get them in the first round. That would be weird.

Personally, I think the Valley has it's new conference structure in place. It is the 10-team Missouri Valley Football Conference.

These teams, assuming they are all committed to maintaining their Football programs at least at the FCS level, should make this their league for all sports. They can rename it if they want to. It is the best FCS conference in the country and, at least on the surface, it appears as if these teams have more commonality and similarity than would the remaining 9 MVC teams.

Bradley, Drake, Evansville and Loyola should be cut loose to pursue their own best interests whether that is in a Division 1 conference or otherwise.

Because of our long history with the Valley, I can't imagine not following Valley games anymore. We will still have a passing interest in it.

So that begs the question: who will be your preferred Valley team to have success?

I might go with Southern Illinois because I like Barry. I would have said Northern Iowa, but I have a bit of a grudge because of a job I really wanted but didn't get where the head person is a Northern Iowa grad. I kinda wished we could have played UNI at Arch Madness so that I could have had that minor bit of satisfaction.

I will continue to follow the Valley closely, I do wish most of them well (Drake and Eville can go to D2 and suck it). I will be rooting for UNI and Bradley to have success in the future. I hope we are able to schedule OOC games against quality Valley teams in the near future.

With that said, I will be rooting much, much harder for USF, Tulane, and ECU to put some competitive teams on the court.
