  • People STILL don't know what to do with us. WSU just doesn't fit into the logic train that is college basketball. WSU just can't be good enough for top 5 can they?? YES! YES THEY CAN.

Not sure how we lost ground on Villanova. I guess their 15-point win over Columbia was more impressive than our 52-point win over UMKC. Who knew?!
That’s called the Jerry Carino Robotic Vote Effect.

        • Kentucky will lose to KU tomorrow. That ought to be a good enough loss to move them a few spots ahead of us next week.

Carino Dropped us 4 spots and bumped Kentucky up 3 spots. I guess almost losing to average teams is better than winning by 52.

The guy is literally a drone. He even admits his polling methodology is to do whatever the actual poll is, he only deviates if he finds something “egregious.”

                • Of the 5 teams between Kentucky and West Virginia (poll movers) in the preseason poll, all 5 teams gained votes. Those gains were 23, 25, 31, 7, 28.

I'll let you geniuses guess which one was WSU.

In case you are worried about it those teams had:
                  15pt Home victory over Columbia
                  No game
17pt Home victory over UNI (I seem to remember this not counting for anything)
                  52pt Home victory over UMKC
                  42pt Home victory over CSU-Fullerton

                  It boggles the mind.

                  • Kevin McNamara of Providence World Journal dropped us three spots to number 10. Florida, Miami, and USC leapfrogged us.

My guess: for most UK players, it's their first college game, meanwhile, for WSU, it's their senior season. Carino may favor the talent over experience.

                        There is no rational defense.

If you don't have WSU in the Top 5 of your poll, you would probably qualify for the mental gymnastics Olympics.

Don't see how any of these teams jumps us

Maybe Doug read the score backwards? UMKC 109, WSU 57. "Yikes, better drop them to 15."
