2017 - 2018 Season Predictions

My Five Predictions for 2017-2018 Shocker Mens Basketball Team & Season:

1. Gregg Marshall will be the Head Coach
2. Maui Champions
3. League Champions
4. At least 30 wins prior to NCAA tournament
5. NCAA Tournament Seed of 4 or better

6. Landry Shamet will be AAC Player of the Year. (Hey, one can dream!)

I think all five will happen, as well. In addition, I am hoping AR
returns healthy with another 10-15 pounds of muscle. If that
happens his minutes are going up significantly and we will be even
stronger around the perimeter. Then, if AM turns out to be decent
we're stronger inside too. So, if AR gets 14-16 minutes a game, and
I believe he is too good not too if healthy, AM gets 4-8 minutes,
Keyser gets a few more and Jones gets opportunities the bottom
line is that very few minutes will be left for DW, DS and EH. I think
something could happen transfer wise with one, maybe two, of these
guys. Question then comes to mind - is there a very quality 5th
year transfer available willing to accept a specific role that could help
us out there knowing we could go deep in March next year?

I would also predict that the NCAA will be even more blatant about their P5 bias. Look at the ESPN headline today, "Why this Sweet 16 is Imposter Free". Who do you think they mean by "imposter?"

There is an old baseball adage about repeating. Can't quote it, but it has to do with changing a few faces being necessary.

If we are in the AAC, we will win the league.

If we are in the MVC, it will be a steamrolling the likes of which has never been witnessed.

Regardless, we will probably get screwed again by the Tournament Committee. It won't matter, though, since we will be the baddest in the land.

I predict another NCAA snub in which we deserve a top 4 seed but get a seed of 8 or lower because the rest of the Valley will completely suck it up, hurting the Shox in the process.

However, I also predict a Sweet Sixteen appearance, no matter what our seed is. With all the key pieces coming back, plus the addition of Samajae Haynes-Jones, this team is going to be LOADED!

If we take care of business in the noncon (and I don't necessarily mean win every game), we won't be lower than a 5 seed. If we'd have won just one of the 3 we lost this year, we may have been 3 seeds higher, and won two of the three, maybe 6-7 seeds higher.

This is assuming league affiliation doesn't change next year.

4. Win a national Championship at 42-0 after they adjust the National Championship game to be best 2 out of 3 after we win the first one.

Completely random guy feeling? Cuz that isn't a trend with WSU like other MVC teams. Everything I've heard is that everyone is EXTREMELY close. They all realize what they have.
