I've seen soooo many salty UK fans on twitter. Many of them calling for a review of officiating and asking national writers to write about it.
I wonder if they realize that if they review the officiating of the UK games, that UK doesn't make it out of the round of 32 with a correct whistle ... Oh wait, of course they don't, they don't want a fair whistle, they want a biased UK whistle.

I still can't believe it's not getting the publicity of the Northwestern goaltend. Other than the obvious P5/NW/ESPN connections.
On another note, during this game there were multiple breaks, it seemed like typically after WSU was starting to make a run, where the referees just stopped the game for a few extra seconds. I don't have any specific times, but I don't remember the announcers commenting on why the break was happening and the camera wouldn't pan out so we could see what was happening. It wasn't a dead ball until the referees decided it was. I know at one point, Kentucky made some substitutions BECAUSE of the break. I didn't see it happen in any other game. My sister (Creighton alum) even commented on it. Any idea what was happening to cause those stoppages?

Also, as bad as the UK one was, the Gonzaga one was completely egregious. I don't understand how the refs didn't notice it during live play.

That said, I have no idea how they missed that call. They got the goaltending call right later on when Landry scored and Adebayo hit the ball after it hit the backboard. That was less obvious than Frankamp's layup."In God we trust, all others must bring data." - W. Edwards Deming

I've posted on here that I believe the goaltending call is the difference maker, all else held equal. But I hope you agree with the logic that a blown call in the first half appears to be less crucial than a blown call on the final possession. If a game is tight in the first half, and it ends up being a blow out, you can't blame the loss on the call. Because of that, no one remembers first half blown calls outside of the fanbase that was hurt by the call.
As an observer with no dog in the Gonzaga/Northwestern fight, I knew immediately that the goaltending call was going to have an impact on the outcome (even before the coach got the T). Casual observers of the WSU/UK game did not have the same, immediate reaction to the blown call because it was in the first half.

I'm clearly not arguing that it didn't affect the outcome. I've said a couple times now that I do think it affected the outcome. I'm just saying that this might not be a P5 bias thing. This might actually just be that people don't even remember the call.
