He's attempting to be a smarty pants with numbers, but all he is doing is ignoring the obvious human elements to the selection committee process. To downplay the statement "this is a good thing for Purdue" is absurd.

IDK, I see it as he is just pointing out (in a condescending manner) that the specific victory has the same significance (not much) as hypothetical victory over UT-Arlington. I doubt the selection committee actually looks at opponents of opponents results unless it by mistake.

Think of it this way. If Baylor finishes #15, that is much better for WSU than if they finish unranked, as the Shox win over Baylor looks much more impressive that way. We want Baylor to do well, and if they knock off KU on a given night, that's very helpful to WSU.

Purdue looks at Arizona in the exact same way. A win over a top 10 team is absolutely a bigger deal than a win over UT Arlington.
