It's interesting news, but I fail to see the revelancy because:

1) Barely passable for requirements to be interested, especially for 6'6" player.
2) Mostly likely want to be a lot closer to home, San Diego or such.
3) He would have to sit out a year, and I think we could do better at having a whole year's worth of new recruits to look at.

Well quite obviously we would take him in a second, but does a guy transferring have to be a potential WSU player for college basketball fans to care?

Don't be too harsh on the guy. He's still getting a feel for what types of information is acceptible and appropriate for certain forums.

What I told him (and I think it's a good guide for all of us) iss that if the information is regionally interesting or nationally significant, and still relevant (ie. college b-ball), it's probably going to be OK.

There can't really be any hard and fast rules, but poster discernment is advised (err on the side of caution).

In my opinoin, these would be acceptible non-WSU topics:

- A Valley coach or player leaves the program.
- A Big12 coach or player leaves the program.
- Big-time coach (Williams, K, etc.) or player (Hansbrough, Love, etc.) leaves/transfers from a big-time school.
- A major scandal at another D1 school.
- Anything negative about KU/KSU

Some examples of unacceptible topics:

- Roleplayer leaves Duke/UNC/IU/ASU/etc.
- Nex Mex. St. fires their coach.
- Anything good about KU/KSU.

Ok, the KU/KSU things depends on the context, but I think you all get what I'm saying.

We don't mind moving a topic now and then. We just ask that everyone use their better judgement so that moving topics around doesn't become common-place.

It depends on the timing. During the season it will create more, mostly unrelated topics, which some will consider clutter. While it might only be one topic here or there, there is a good chance that "loosening the strings" would result in an increase in said topics. The cost of having those topics is different per individual. The more topics we allow that aren't at least somewhat related to WSU, the harder it is to draw a line between what is acceptible and what isn't. So from a moderation standpoint, it's much simpler. Selfish? Perhaps. But again, some don't mind them, but others do.

However, now that the season is over it's not as big of a deal. So there will be a bit more latitude.

I guess it just depends on where you are coming from...I tend to think that Division 1 Men's College Basketball is all relevant to Wichita State Men's college basketball fans. That's the playing field in which we are participating. If stuff happening at a top program is not relevant to us, what are we saying about WSU basketball?

I guess if we are solely interested in walling off the world outside of our immediate program and being uneducated fans of the sport, so be it.

I'm an advocate of free markets...if the topic is not of interest; the market will dictate that it falls to page two and out of our consciousness.

If it's relevant and of interest, it will stay.

Government intervention is not needed to solve the "problem"

I do feel that people should title their topics so that disinterested parties are not fooled into wasting their time reading it. If that's followed, I see no issue that anyone could legitimately complain about.

I'm sure HCGM would jump at the chance at getting a guy that went to Duke on a basketball scholarship. Personally, I'd love to get a 6'6" guy that has the ability to score - doesn't seem like many of those guys are floating around for a mid-major school. But, it doesn't really matter, the odds of him coming here are slim to none.

It has no effect on WSU and I don't think many people here really care much about what goes on at Dook. I think that's where the issues come in to play. If there was a chance or rumor that he'd transfer to WSU or any other Valley school I'd care. Just because he decides to leave Dook doesn't make it relevant. I don't see us discussing who's transfering from Georgia Southern or Savannah State. Same difference as far as I'm concerned.

I think both sides of this argument have a decent point...However I think someone else said it well that its a slow news day and we all wish their was some relevant shocker hoops news to discuss and since their is not..this gets the heat from our vents

I think the recent thread about ku being on our schedule next year is alot more annoying than this though

Basically anything during the slow season referencing college basketball is fair game.

If you don't want to comment on it, move on and the topic will die a quick death. Commenting on how irrelevant it is simply keeps it on the board that much longer.
