  • Got my yellow and black out!

My long nightmare of a season is finally over! I can now be an unabashed Shocker fan!

Im really looking forward to getting to see Marshall's boys continue the juggernaut. Although I'm getting almost scared of what your team is going to be like next year!

    Go get em Shockers!!!

I was really hoping you guys would beat EU tonight and burn up the Turds tomorrow.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

    ... No really, deuces.

Yeah, we aren't going to be a threat to anyone so long as Lansing remains our coach.

      Can't wait to watch tomorrow!!!

I can understand why Sycamore Nation might be relieved to put this nightmare of a season behind them. Just one of those years when nothing much at all went right after the early nice win over Butler.

Thanks! Glad you all beat Butler! Would love to see Indiana St. doing better, but we always appreciate the love. Hope next season is much more productive than the current one!

You think Lansing's job is safe?

The wolves are circling, but as always, the question is whether or not we can afford to buy out his contract. Our former AD, who was wonderful in all respects except contract negotiation, gave him a rolling 5 year deal that will always be difficult to get out of. My guess is he gets another year. I mean, we hit double digits in wins. Why fire a guy if he can hit that milestone, am I right?

But if they don't make a change, Hulman Center, already "The Big Empty," will become a virtual morgue next year...so ticket $$$ (what little there was) will dry up. There is very little concern for "business sense" in our Athletic Department. I honestly don't think those folks understand how a winning program could be good for the department's bank account. Seriously...

A sad commentary that IMO can be applied to a number of other MVC schools as well!

And here I think we've found the cutline for what makes contractual sense. If you can't afford the buyout of a contract negotiated to retain a good coach, you probably can't truly afford that coach.

This happens at P5 schools, too, but seems a bigger problem among "mids". MSU is in the same boat, and probably SIU.

Schools with these financial situations need to go with more reasonable salaries and load up the contract with incentives. You can find the money when you're winning.

Indiana State interviewed an AD candidate who used to be the AD at Maryland and when asked about coach contracts, he stated he was categorically against long-term contracts for coaches because they were so one sided. He preferred paying more money in incentives with shorter contract terms. As someone said over on MVCFans.com, if you have the right resource allocation and a good AD, there will always be another good coach out there...
