Posted this in the other thread

Shamet is the 4th Freshman to get 1st team honors (Doug McDermott, Cleo Littleton, Vernon Yates) and Shamet/McDuffie only the 2nd underclassman pair on the 1st team (Baker/Van Vleet). That's some good company for them.

I really don't think Shamet is going to be on the 1st team four years straight.

Conner made 3rd team? Nice reward. I'm looking for even better things from him in the very near future. :bball_spin: Hell, from all of 'em.

How good were we in the early 80s that X didn't really sniff any consideration as a freshman? Dang!

                      Is Sean O'Brien good?

                      Better than Shaq?

Is the 3rd team something new this year replacing the honorable mentions?

Overall, I think that is a pretty reasonable result.

If Conner and Shaq had started their run of good play at the beginning of the Conference season instead of the middle they may have well received more votes.

Congratulations to all the Shocks on their well-deserved honors. But more importantly congratulations and kudos to all the Shocks for a great year and some of th prettiest team basketball (on both ends of the court) that you can find in college basketball.

                          Not especially. No.

Yes, it’s new. Mike Kennedy mentioned something about it last night on the coaches show.

You would probably never pick him before Shaq if you were chosing sides in a pick-up game. I'm thnking this is just the result of vote splitting among 10 or 11 decent candidates for those last 5 slots where there could be a lot of differing opinions.

O'Brien certainly belonged in that group of candidates. A good, solid, experienced player. The difficulty Shocker fans have is it was pretty common for a lot of these players to have sub-par games against the Shocks where many of us get most of our exposure to them to form an opinion perhaps making it a bit more difficult to judge a players full season performance.
