I think we will. Actually I think we will probably do better.

The defense of many of our MVC opponents (each with a book on how to defend our sets and players) is better than teams with more athletic personnel who play "athletic" defense rather than smart team defense. If the past is anything to go by, our off ball shooters will be open as their man plays off thinking they are fast enough to recover. And they aren't fast enough against CF, LS, DS, or MM if they give them room.

I do think there is something very obviously different about Frankamp over the last 6 weeks that isn't due to competition level. And I think that difference helps more than just himself in the shooting department.

This team has enough weapons and good enough defense that 45% 3pt shooting isn't a necessity. But, 24% isn't going to cut it either. I think there is room to envision a reasonable middle-ground that could still result in WSU wins against quality competition.
Kenpom showed strong evidence that defenders have much less impact on 3 shooting %. Which if you think about it makes sense. Every shooter has a threshold for what is a shot they can take based on how far away the defense is and how far from the basket he is. Rarely do you see shots altered from the perimeter, the way defend the 3 point line is ball denial and staying on the shooters toes.

If they concentrate on stopping our 4-5 3 point shooters, the inside opens up and we do have some good offensive 1 on 1 players in the paint too. If they double them, it opens up a 3. They tend to allow Brown space for a 3. He hasn't been taking the bait recently and has been choosy on his shots.

Doc and I talked the other day, and we both agreed that Willis will do well in the postseason. After going off in the Valley opener for 25/10, the scouting report was ramped up for him. It's like the rookie hitter in baseball who goes off to start but then struggles after a few weeks once the scouting report is out. He has to adjust to the adjustments. Darral is starting to make those adjustments.

In the postseason, Darral won't have the emphasis put on him due to having to scout on short notice.

Scouting WSU and developing a defensive game plan has got to be very difficult. We have had multiple players have game highs during the year

            Scoring - 9
            Rebounds - 6
            Assists - 7
            Steals - 9
            Blocked Shots - 10

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I would game plan to not get my shot blocked by Frankamp. Let the chips fall where they may, that just seems embarrassing.

Is Frankamp "sneaky athletic" part 2?
