  • Connor was fab. Best game of his career. Nurger is a beast, and welcome back Shaq.

    • Shaq and Frankamp had pretty good games.

Rashard Kelly played Shocker basketball and won the game.

      • Kelley is my under the radar player of the game. He's become the new Wessel.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Maybe, but I think I'm going to have to get a respirator because every time he gets the ball I hold my breath.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

          • That second half will cost me hundreds of dollars! I was pissed off enough to skip Saturday's game. Now I'm gonna shell out for a couple nights hotel. (Expect my reservation to appear tomorrow or the next day doc) Both kids are in Wichita so it'll be Anchor on Friday night and Public on Saturday. And of course my wife nearly always feels sorry for the poor Wichita merchants. Edit: And a trip to the confessional at Blessed Sacrament for the stream of obscenities unleashed earlier tonight.

Charles Dickens was a great writer. I have Great Expectations for this team but need to see a complete game effort more often than we do for those expectations to be realized. Yes tonight was the worst of times and the best of times. Unquestionably a tale of two halves. I know the Shocks work hard in the classroom but when they get out on the court let's have a little less Charles Dickens and a little more Gregg Marshall.

That's the G-rated version. Possibly not a verbatim quote from the locker room.

Just as importantly, and perhaps more so, is that Rauno's confidence in himself continues to grow. As does the confidence Rauno's teammates have in him.

                  • Like I said at half time -- more shots for CF and more RN post ups.
Shaq's best game offensively and on the boards but poor first half
defense. IMO he should never go more than ten feet away from the
basket on defense. When he does he gets burnt. After a rough start
AR settled in and played well. He is our # 3 guard. Nice game for RK
except for the missed free throws.

                    • Looking for a little perspective after the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde game, I took a look at where this team is at compared to history. Interestingly, if the season were to end today this team would have some season statistics up there with the best of HCGM's teams.

*Note for the stat geeks on this forum, I pulled historical information from the Records thread sticky, and this years stats from the GoShockers stats page.

                      All-Time Season Records
                      Points per game
                      1. 88.8 1978-79
                      2. 88.0 1965-66
                      3. 85.2 1967-68
                      4. 83.4 1982-83
                      5. 82.3 2016-17

                      Scoring Margin
                      1. 17.3 2016-17
                      2. 15.7 2013-14
                      3. 14.7 2011-12
                      4. 14.6 1953-54
                      5. 14.4 1980-81

                      Three Point %
                      1. .453 1987-88
                      2. .433 1986-87
                      3. .421 1988-89
                      4. .400 1982-83
                      5. .391 2016-17

                      Rebounding Margin
                      1. 10.1 1980-81
                      2. 8.8 1982-83
                      3. 8.4 2010-11
                      4. 8.1 2016-17
                      5. 7.9 2012-13

Also, if the season ended today (and Rauno had taken enough shots to qualify) he would be at #6 single-season FG% at 59.1% and Reaves would be #1 single-season 3FG% at 53.5%

I know comparing mid-year to date stats with full season is not exact science I think it puts into perspective how lucky we have it when a rebuilding year stands up to some of the better years in our history.

The travel on McDuffie should have never happened. The Evansville player should have been called for traveling when his feet slid out from under him.

                        • If you missed the game and saw a 82-65 win over Evansville on the road (and I thought Evansville actually played a decent game, certainly played hard) you probably would be thinking the Shocks played a very good game. As it turns out the Shocks played absolutely horribly for the 1st 16 minutes before waking up to cut a 13 point deficit to 3 at the half. The second half the Shocks were very good. No turnovers, very good shooting, very good defense, good rebounding effort. Still it took a while to shake the Aces. Jaylon Brown was very good and Ryan Taylor was pretty tough as well tonight. But that's about where it begins and ends for Evansville.

Conner was aggressive in looking for his shot but at the same time under control and not forcing the action.

Come on Shaq quit teasing us will you. This needs to become your thing big man.

Rauno just keep dong what you are doing.
