I believe Jansen has always had it out for the shocks. I just can't figure out why.

I would be interested in ShockRef defending Paul Janssen.

There's clearly something emotional in play here and I thought officiating was above that.

      ... No really, deuces.

My two cents on Paul Janssen. 1) His whistle is too quick which leads to bad calls, 2) he tends to favor the underdog, especially a road underdog. Just my opinion.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Jansen is terrible. Him and the white haired dude that called the game at IBA this year are two of the worst.

Now, that's a guy who could reasonably have an anti -Shocker bias, but it hasn't seemed to be the case.

I wish John Higgins did all of our games.

              I'm not kidding.

Kip Kissinger too. There are many others.

This sounds like a statistical rabbit hole we need to send @Jamar Howard 4 President: down.

Get on it Alice. Give me a standard deviation on Janssen's foul calling when officiating WSU games in the Marshall era.

I don't think the issue is Higgins per se (even though I have made comments to the contrary in the UNI thread). I think the problem is that there may be a conflict of interest for the national TV games that have a stake in the game staying close.

It's a conspiracy theory yes, bit it's my conspiracy theory.

Some statistics are even too ugly for me to study. Foul call patterns of refs. Ugh. Nope.

Exactly, Doc. I'm always happy to see Higgins.

Janssen and Pollard make me cringe. Those two are the absolute worst.

Granted, it's been 3+ years since I posted this thread on Janssen, but still drives me nuts...

There are good refs and bad refs but I think we'd be foolish to think that the refs favor one team or another. I don't see why they would care. I put myself in their shoes, and I think all I'd have my plate full trying to keep track of what's going rather than care who's playing for what team.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

On a side note, I read all the posts and it's more than a little interesting how general opinions of Marshall seemed to be different pre-F4 than post-F4.

                                Couple thoughts on referees.
                                1. I just have trouble with Mr. Higgins supposed association with a university in his home town.
I think he's as good a ref as there is. I watch a lot of big 12 and March madness games and he does an excellent job, but in a tight game all it takes is one or two "missed" calls to effect the outcome of the game.
                                2. We all need to remember Gregg's mantra "You need to be 10 points better than the refs."
