  • Th new Bookends?

During the Bradley game, the announcers spoke of Willis and McDuffie being the best forwards since Levingston and Carr. Obviously the current forwards don't have quite the back-story that our rafter stars did, but here's their stats over the past four games:

    Willis - 19 and 6
    McDuffie - 17 and 5

    Not bad!

Not bad at all. And you never know...these two may just end up being remembered the way Carr and Livingston are remembered. The stats may just show that in a couple years too. Obviously it's a bit of a different animal (athlete) these days. Carr and Livingston jumped over everybody. McDuff and Willis though good bookends have a ways to go in my opinion but man I sure like 'em both a lot. Very good players!!!

"a ways to go" might be a major understatement. The blue-bloods of college basketball seldom, if ever, have "bookends" like these two...

Kind of disappointed there wasn't more fanfare with some MTXE old school guys having a reunion this weekend.

Everyone saw AC in the house, but I know that Mike Denny returned as well, as I am sure others did too.

I'm sorry, but that photo is just bad-ass. Man that takes me back. Those guys were gods to a little whipper snapper like myself in the early 80s. Holy cow those were fun times!

No idea why MTXE isn't on all of our gear somewhere. Such a cool, unique mark, that we're ignoring.

If it isn't held as a trademark by the Smithson family or someone else, WSU should snag it. And then make it part of the brand.

Is that a shadow, or did someone on the right wet their drawers? :)

no way at all. levingston and carr were both first-round top-ten picks in the nba draft.

even van vleet and baker, bookend guards, weren't first round, or second round, nba picks.

the missouri valley was a bit different back then, for you young whippersnappers. tough, tough, tough no wonder larry bird came from that.

True that. The youngsters don't realize what a great run the early 80s were. 3 top 10 power forwards on the same team. And one of the smoothest and most talented guards we have ever had. What a time.

I like the idea of another inside triple/headed monsta on the horizon. Carr and Cliff were in a league of their own as far as Bookend comparisons. Shaq/MM/Willis. Put any 2 of our 4 guards in the 10 man rotation with them in any game and we can't go wrong. You want a rebound advantage? These 3 can eat glass in true grit fashion!!!!!!!!!!! Kelly, Nurger, and Brown can fill in finer than a frog-hair, especially when they get hot.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

drake was turning out good nba players, for goodness' sake. bradley and creighton and tulsa and west texas state too. man, the valley was tough and hard-nosed back then.
