  • WSU Versus Bradley Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Here's the deal. The Braves come knocking at 21st and Hillside at 1-p.m. this coming Sunday. They are 5-8 and play S. Illinois Thursday in Valley play. Speaking of Valley play, are our various foes scratching their head right now? They knew about this MM Shocker but what is up with this new Juco player scoring 25 smackers along with 10 boards named Willis? YIKES!!!!!!! Many moons ago Dick Versace made a comment that X-Man's rebound totals in games were being padded. Shhhh!!!! Don't start it up with the X-Man because his next trip to Peoria was a rebounding clinic with them keeping track. Back in 1985, X-Man had 43 points versus Bradley. Mr. Versace did go on to an NBA coaching career and was a sportscaster as well. At Bradley, he also had a tough 1-2 punch with Guards Hersey Hawkins and Jim Les whom both later played in the NBA.

So in comes an improved Bradley team coached by Brian Wardle. Last Season in Wichita we defeated them 88-54 and we beat them 85-58 in Peoria. Thus, the Braves are walking into a place where foes winning is as rare as pulling hens teeth. Coach Marshall is not just focused on us winning this game, but also improving as a team. Will Shaq be back? Will Willis get another Valley double/double? Look for the Shocks to win by 33 as our 4 guards combine for 44 points as Austin comes off the bench to score 12. We need to establish our inside game and then exploit the outside as well. Look for our D-fence to play 33 minutes similar to the performance in the 2nd half of the Indiana State win. I predict this team will break a 3-point Shocker scoring record for a game in one of the Valley home games this very Season. Book it!!!!!!!!!!!

    Braves-- 55

    Shocks- 88

That would be a very concerning margin at home against a near 300 RPI team.

I went and looked it up on LiveRPI and ESPN and apparently Bradley is actually around #200. When you look at the MVC this year, there aren't any heavy hitters, but most of the conference is in the 100-200 range entering conference play. Drake is the only seriously BAD team. I think we've experienced many recent years where as many as 3-5 MVC teams were worse than #200. It's hard to call this an "up" year, but maybe it actually is to a certain degree.

I checked Indiana State, and they are around #130. A road win at #130 is not bad at all. Man, I sure wish that stud center would have stayed at Drake.

Find the 2024-25 NCAAM rankings on ESPN, including the Coaches and AP poll for the top 25 NCAAM teams.

At the very least our RPI won't drop as often when we win a game.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

How is our SOS at 169? Are neutral court games not factored into that?

They are but our schedule ended up being very underwhelming in comparison to expectations
