At OKC, I really noticed how the weak/off side rebounders would stay face to the back of the defensive player who had inside position I think Shaq picked up a foul in this situation because the inside player always looked pushed forward if they missed the rebound. Back in the tight short days (even with a buckle) if the guy beat you to inside position on this side, you simply pinned him, almost back to back, conceding the short rebound to ensure you had position and alignment to get anything that skipped longer over the rim. To those who coach, is this a conscious coaching point to challenge the short rebound? I always figured the inside guy won if the athleticism was remotely close. The outside guy might as well guarantee he has anything but a short rebound,
