  • WSU Vs. Oklahoma State Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Here's the deal. How about this? When the doors swing open at Intrust Arena next Sat. the Cowboys will enter around 8-2 if they beat Arkansas Pine Bluff. I wonder if APB wishes they had Austin on their team? Shhh! When the dust settles and if the Shocks win this game, mighten we hear Whisk, Whisk on sweeping the Big 12 and defeating the Big 3 in Oklahoma? I wonder if these teams wish they had Shaq? Dunno!!!

Not so fast. Oklahoma State is playing well and would love to put a stop to our undefeated Intrust Arena record. The Cowboys are lead by Phil "Hold The" Forte and Jawun Evans. Many moons ago I remember under the Coach Cohen era that Robert George led us to a nice win and they had really solid guards that Season. Their new Coach is Brad Underwood who coached at Nacogdoches, Texas for Stephen F. Austin where they did some March Dancing. This is a Coach that can both recruit and move the X and the O's. This is another resume' fresh win that our beloved Shocks want and need.

Look for the Shocks to DeRange the Cowpokes with our 6-guns blazing both inside and then out at the gunfight at the OK Intrust Arena and ride off in the sunset with an 11-point surpass. Our 4 guards will combine for 44 points, while Shaq and Mr. Willis clean glass like rock-stars. The game could be as close as our win today unless we really ramp up our D. without much fouling.

A sweep of the Big 12 will only help our resume'. 3G will not allow our Shocks get complacent after a big win either. Much was chronicled about those who stepped up for us yesterday. I have mentioned that if Shaq, Duff, and Shamet are hitting on all cylinders, we will be hard to beat. However, Shocker team makes it hard on our foes to prepare for us. For example, 2 of the 3 just mentioned did not have big scoring days for us yesterday. Even so, rather than give up or pout, they did the little things that are huge in a narrow 3 point win against a very solid team with 11 more throws than us.

Shamet only had 6 points but how big were the 2 penetrating lay-ups in a row he made? Add to that 4 rb and 3 assists. MM had only 5 points but he was getting pounded and only shot 1 throw. WOW!!! Rather than sulk, he led our team with 8 rebounds. Austin can play against any team we will face and will grade out right at the top in many games for us per minute played. He had foul trouble yesterday but still scored 8 points with 2 bounds and 2 assists. Last but not least, getting free throws yesterday was like pulling hens teeth but Mr. Brown goes 6-6, has 4 rebounds, 17 points and 2 blocks. Let's just say he came to play.

What does it all mean in lieu of the Oklahoma State game? This will be another stern test with a team that is well coached and playing good right now? All 10 of our rotation players will get their chance and those who start may not play more than those coming off our solid bench. Who will lead us this time? Can we tone down the 1st half fouling we had the last two road games? We know we will have a 11th key too since we like that number so well. Our fans will be loud, crazy, and supportive and that fuels our Shockers. Just win Shocks. I'll even take ugly wins, but this game here will really 'dress up' our resume' and we love to Dance with the Stars in March, even April.

I like the way this team shares the ball & their unselfish nature.
I like that the opponent cannot focus on stopping one or two offensive options, 'cause we will hit them with 10 (generously including Nurger based on Intrust Arena history).
I like giving the coaching staff (**cough** Jans **cough**) a week to game plan.
        I like the Shox 73-68.

Injuries will be critical before any predictions are made. A couple of Shockers were less than 100% at the end of the OU game, but OSU had some serious issues with availability at Tulsa. They have a midweek patsy, so we may know more after Wednesday, but here is article about their win. I think the Shocks win regardless, but the delta could fluctuate based on who's available.

I predict GGG's Oklahoma hunting expedition ends with another b12 trophy to hang on his office wall.

It seems like each game we play, different Shockers of our 10 man rotation step up? Who will do so this game. These are the 2 I'm thinking will do so. I feel it in my ole creaky bones. Duff and CF. Stay tuned.

It will be interesting to see our game plan. Everything OSU does is predicated on Evans. He is the hub of their offense. Help defense, and when someone helps on Evans, rotating quickly will have to be good.
