Compelling numbers, but I insist there are more assist all around because of CF's presence on the court. One more thing I have noticed is WSU has been able to gain the offensive rebound on a large number of his misses. I am not sure if it is the way it bounces, anticipation of our rebounders or a figment of my imagination.

One thing I see DS doing that is nice is the quick pass ahead of the defense. "Armstead to Wiggins" was a nightmare for opposing coaches. We haven't seen much of that lately until DS's arrival. I see AR looking to make similar passes as well.

Ultimately we are in really good shape at the 1 and 2 spots.

Like many of you, I really like the flexibility 3G has when it comes to the guard rotation. Hell, that goes for the entire rotation. But this is about CF and presumably the PG position. The one thing that does stand out is the pace of the offense. I love FVV and what he did for this team and program but I have to admit how frustrating it was to watch him run the offense down to the last few seconds of the shot clock.

Of course, one can't dismiss results and FVV won an awful lot of games (121) running point. That was his game and his style and 3G trusted him to run the offense that way.

But I think CF (and the others for that matter) at point this year is showing a different style of offense, more up tempo and willing to put the ball in someone else's hands to score earlier in the shot clock. I see the turnover stats but sometimes those TOs aren't necessarily on the PG, sometimes it's the stone hands of the recipient of the pass. But yes, he does need to work on that as I know at least one of those TOs was on him, losing the ball while dribbling.

All in all, I think Conner is adapting to his new role, maybe not as quickly as many of us would like, but adapting nonetheless. But more importantly, with the depth we have at guard right now, the burden isn't entirely his to bear. And that might just be what makes this team extremely dangerous.

Agreed. Fred may ne my all time favorite Shocker, but I felt he held the ball directing traffic too much for my taste with the number of skilled players we had. As you said, it's tough to argue with the results, but I like to see the ball moving around.

To be fair to FVV, some of the "ball sticking" in his hands was due to some of the young guys being more than willing (if not eager) to just sit back and watch him work.

It's interesting that the 2nd game - CF had 0 assist and 15 points.

More assists all around, but that may be affected by who is on the floor with him (starters).
There are .61 assists per minute when CF is in the game; .29 per minute when he's not.
There are .42 assists per minute when AR is in the game; .50 per minute when he's not.
There are .56 assists per minute when DS is in the game; .42 per minute when he's not.
Team is .475 assists per minute.

Rebounds. CF's misses are rebounded 50% of the time (all but one of the five was a team rebound), all other players 40%.
AR's 4 misses were rebounded 75% by WSU (all three by players).
DS's 10 misses were also rebounded 50% by WSU (all five by a player).

So your assist perception is correct; your rebound perception is not.

Oh yeah, then there's shooting percentages:
              CF 33.3% on 15 attempts
              AR 66.7% on 12 attempts
              DS 28.6% on 14 attempts

              Rebounds
              CF 2 in 71 minutes
              AR 8 in 38
              DS 12 in 48

None of the team appears to be over dribbling. So I don't see much difference there.

No argument. It was clearly a mostly winning strategy.

Yeah. While I didn't necessarily like that style, it was all we had to work with.

He just really needs to be more aggressive and shoot the ball. Getting off a shot once every 8 mins or so, isn't what a great shooter does. He needs to rip off several 3's and get in a flow. Then again, WSU is rolling people right now so no need to mess with that simply to try and make him or the fans feel better. Just keep winning as a team... he'll contribute here and there.

Teams have really keyed in on CF the first few games. He is a known known and all the players on the other teams are aware of his presence. He helps keep the floor spread and draws a lot of attention. His D is also quite improved.

A known known? (Showing my age,) I feel like Ed McMahon is about to pop out of the woodwork asking, "HOW known is he?"

Seriously, though, Frankamp is certainly less under the radar than many of his teammates are -- and chi is right; his defense has definitely improved. As long as he avoids mistakes, hustles, and plays solid D, I'm guessing he'll keep getting plenty of minutes.

Whatever he's (CF) is doing IS working. Defenses playing him tight cause he is "known"...sure. That's okay cause he's got other options of firepower at his disposal. If and when defenses "adjust"...CF will feel it and show no mercy letting it fly!!! SHOCKS!!!

I just really enjoy watching Austin and Conner handle the basketball. The ball is on a string for both of them.

Conner is too quiet. I enjoyed watching Daishon tell at Eric for not hustling. Maybe Conner is quiet because those problems aren't there 1-12. I have been very impressed with his ball handling and decision making. Thank you Bill Self, you freaking moron. I hope we play KU in the spring so Conner can destroy his bulldog.
