3G says that the opponents missed some open looks but at some point you have to give credit to the Shock's defense. Sometimes when you are defended tough when you do get an open look a shooter will get sped up which can effect accuracy.

The stuff they need to work on is relatively simple and straight-forward such as securing loose balls and blocking off the boards consistently. Learned a lot about failing to execute these details on the Canada trip.

Got a great text from Evan Wessel before the beginning of the season where he said that the execution is not always there early in the season so sometimes you just have to outwork the opponent and take care of the details and the seemingly small stuff.

Talked about some of the new players.

Daishon Smith did a great job especially against LBS especially with his defensive disruption not to mention knocking down some nice jumpers. They want him to get his athleticism in the game and against LBS he did that. He picks up thing quickly. When he is locked in he can be very, very good.

Austin Reaves is tough and fearless. 3G says he worries about him mixing it ups so much becuase his shoulders are a bit tenous. 3G kind of holds his breath every time he comes out of scrum. Missed part of the comments on Austin.

Darral Willis will be very good but has some weaknesses to work on. Needs to be better at defending the perimeter.

Talked about the returning players. 3G says he has a lot of depth and who will play the most in any particular game will vary depending on who is playing the best.

Is this a team that has a chance to be deep due to the versatility of different guys playing different spots?

3G said definitely and the Canada trip was helpful with that.

Willis, Rauno and Eric all training at the 4 and the 5. Markis the 3 and the 4. Zach at the 3 and the 2. Daishon has trained at only the 1. Conner, Landry and Austin can play the 1 or the 2. Shaq is strictly a 5.

Team chemistry has been very good this year.

Give supreme effort while on the court or he assumes you are tired.

One of the guys last night was trash talking and the ref warned 3G that he would get T'd up if he didn't knock it off. 3G immediately removed the player and told him he had not right to hurt the team. That took care of it and their was no pouting. He wants he players to treat everyone with kindness and respect.

Asbjorn Mitgaard is locked up. He is a bear of a man. Big forearms, big legs, moves well and his is very tough. Not sure what that means with the no-touch rules in college basketball because he is going to touch people. Has a great demeanor and attitude. Only started recruiting him about a month ago. Maybe not quite as tall as Garrett but he is as big as Garrett is now and Garrett is huge.

Did not talk about Samajae (I don't think). Not sure if that is notable or not. Probably wise not to read too much into that. Not to mention I may have just missed it.

Walking down the bench is like a buffet. A very good buffet. You can't put everything on your plate. It is very hard to please everyone. There will generally always be someone who is not happy with playing time. That is one of many reasons that turnover in college basketball rosters is so high these days averaging about 2 per year per team.

C.J. Keyser is going to be a tremendous player but he just missed so much practice this summer and fall that he is somewhat behind where you would expect him to be and it will take him a while to catch up but if he does then 3G has to figure out what to do with him.

Worries about AR getting injured. Says he has to reign him in some cause he's always sticking his nose in the action. Should probably have a brace on both shoulders. Pray for good health.

Coach Heiar had the LBS scout and the team did a great job of absorbing it. Thought LBS would press them more than they did.

Some of the stuff LBS did on video looked like it would be hard to guard but the Shocks did a great job of executing the game plan and it didn't look that hard during the game.

3G sure mentioned the Canada trip a lot as being beneficial. The guys are also buying in to following what the Coaches are teaching because they see it works, especially when they work toghether as a team.

Rauno does a great job defensively of walling up opponents in the paint under the new verticality interpretations.

Hopefully, we can get him through the season in one piece so that Kerry can got to work strengthening AR's shoulder and upper body.

MK commented that the first time he saw Baker play he told HCGM that he stole one (him being a walk-on). He followed that with the first time he saw Reaves in which he told HCGM that he was a poor man's Pistol Pete. That AR was undervalued on the recruiting trail.

We didn't play well at Tulsa when Fred begged 3G to play even though he was playing on one leg. Landry Shamet played and fouled out in around 12 minutes of court time. But Tulsa was pretty good last year and very experienced.

It will be a much different team this year including former Shocker Corey Henderson. Their best player is a 6-8 Forward transfer from Rutgers (Etou).

Did not do a lot today. A video of the LBS game. A video of Tulsa. Did some shooting. Put in a new offensive set.

You did very well '72' and I was there. I did ask HCGM about the recruitment of AR. How did we get in on him and why was there so little interest. His reply was that it was coach Linstead and AR was from NW Arkansas and not a lot of population.,,think Scott City if you will...and there were concerns about his injuries that kept others off recruiting him. Once again Shocks find a diamond in the rough.

ARs injuries seem to be much more worrisome than I initially thought.
