I move that we change the name of the conference from Missouri Valley Conference to Margin of Victory Conference.

That being said, this team does a lot of things besides shoot the ball well.

Not that it should be a surprise, but they get after it on D and get SO many deflections that turn into atomic bombs. I don't know how many layups we had but it was a lot.

They pass and share the ball like no team I can remember at WSU. And the team chemistry is fantastic.

I know Gregg was upset we didn't get a couple of loose balls, but I think he'll be mostly ok with how it happened. Guys are hustling all over the court.

If we can stay healthy, not many teams will withstand the wave after wave of really good players that we can throw at them.

      Tonight

      The Good:

Conner again ran the point well. Smith caught fire and Reaves is just a freaking stud.

Zach Brown was incredible. He did a lot, but emblematic of his strong play was late in the game, up a bunch, he dives for a loose ball on 1 end, didn't get it, but got up and busted ass back on D to secure the board. Watch it, it was impressive.

Willis' miss that McDuffie flushed...I'm telling you it was NOT a miss, it was intentional. He saw MM and laid it off the glass to him I promise you.

      3 point shooting.

The Not Quite as Good (because nothing tonight was bad):

Shaq needs to stay out of foul trouble because he's dominant while he's in there.

Eric Hamilton please stop shooting 3s.

Only 9 O boards to 15 for the Beach...however looking deeper, we got 9 on 24 missed shots, while LBSU got their 15 on 44 misses. Ours is the higher %. That being said, as @WuShock16 said to me at halftime, we aren't yet a great rebounding team.

Only 64% from the line. Got to do better.

Any shot for Kelly outside 2 feet is not a great shot. He's playing at a very high level, but stay closer to basket young man.

Even though we were 21-36 from inside the stripe for the game (58.3%) we still missed a fair number of bunnies. That's good and bad.

There is no controversy on PG. Conner is doing a great job. But yes we have depth.

Willis is very good. No comparison with Hamilton. Just can't see where EH will get meaningful minutes outside foul trouble and injuries.

Question....when is McDuffie going to start?
Putting the ball through the cylinder covers a multitude of sins for sure, but the way we play in regard to other components of successful hoops it doesn't matter.

That was a display of jungle warfare (on the glass) the likes of which Coach Monson probably hasn't seen during his tenure in Long Beach. E. Wessal would approve!!!

Right? Just how good is that Augusta team? Can we get them signed up to replace somebody in the MVC?

Maybe we can even get Carleton in here as well?

I'm sure they're not worried. They have the most talented team 1-12

              • We go to the bench and bring in 6'10", 6'8" and 6'9".

I'll say this.....this current team, so far, is doing an excellent job at carving their own niche.
I was trying to imply that the way we are playing so far, I don't think anyone wished we had them for another year of eligibility to help the team get through it's struggles.

                      • A couple of the shots Conner made the first half were nasty.
It's been a day or two but Daishon reminds me of Tony Martin.
Too many silly fouls last night. Effort based fouls are okay. The silly reaches and grabbing is not.
                        Landry is just so smooth.
I tend to pick on Rashard and finishing at the baskets but there were certainly others last night that failed at the rim.
As we all know the only thing keeping Shaq from major offensive numbers is not staying on the floor.
Rebounds and loose balls, we have to be stronger once we get our hands on them.
                        Markis needs to start.
                        Austin is fun.
I think those foes that expected a serious drop off with the departure of Fred and Ron are experiencing tightened sphincters.

                            Nah. Thought of this guy:

Shane Dennis. How seriously good has he been on the tv play by play? Professional, knowledgable, doesn't try too hard like Bruce always did, and he seems so natural.
I liked Bruce, but Shane is an upgrade and I don't need to use my thesaurus.
