  • Wichita State vs August (Exhibition) predictions and pregame discussions

Shocker basketball is just over 24 hours away!

I still don't know what to expect. We could put up 100 or we could struggle early before finally getting it together just before halftime. Either way, it'll be a lot of fun watching our new guys in a game.

    Shockers - 88
    August - 52

Related: Paul Suellentrop tweeted that there are 500 GA tickets available through the ticket office for only $12. This sale starts at 2pm today an lasts until 2 am Nov. 5th (weird)

Which comes out to less than 3 cents per ticket. No more complaining about not being able to afford it! Recycle cans, bring the family!

Augusta doesn't have a lot of height (three sophomore 6-8 post players) -- but they do have a 2X D-II AA guard in 5-9 Keshun Sherrill, who averaged 23.3 ppg last season as a junior. They lost their top rebounder and three-point specialist from last year but are picked to win the league this year.

They're psyched for this one, with three Augusta restaurants holding official watch parties.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

I would like to see us get out and stretch our wings a bit. I don't wanna see us playing tight. Play hard, play fast and start getting an identity for what we are without Ron and Fred.

I predict an amped up Augusta team ready to leave it on the floor punching us in the mouth for a while. Coach lets the young-uns play under some pressure. Predicted starters come in near the end and settle things down and we win by less than 20. Or, you know, McGill.

You're telling me they let you pay the $22 without telling you about the $12 promo first?

                ... No really, deuces.

Yep. I called them back up and they didn't know about the deal and they had to talk with a boss. Found out it was online only and tickets (as always) have no refunds.

                    Wow, that's cute.

Why would a ticket office know about a ticket promotion?

                    That's honestly pretty sleezy.

I'd lean towards non-prepared. Of course online tickets have extra fees so I lost $32 instead of $40.

Here's the deal. For a change, I am going to focus on things such as defense instead of being so offensive minded. Next, I like our 'bigs committee' and am in hopes that we are a very solid rebounding team again. We can expect some highs and lows with so many new players so patience may become a virtue. Who will emerge as our starting point guard, our leaders, our go to players? Stay tuned because this will be another fun Season of Shocker basketball. I predict that Shaq, MM, and Willis will each score 11 as will #11. Austin will come off the bench and score 10.
