  • I try to think 'how would we do playing 10 games against them......3 home 3 away 4 neutral?'

I don't think we'd win more than 4 out of 10 vs UNC, Duke, FSU, UVA, Louisville, Villanova, Gonzaga, St. Marys, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, USC, Kansas, Baylor, OSU, WV, Wisconsin, Maryland, Purdue, USC, Florida, UK, USC, Xavier & Cinicinnati. I also would say MSU deserves to be ranked ahead of us, even though I think we'd win at least 5 out of 10 against them. There are at a minimum of a dozen teams I think are toss up with WSU after that.

No freakin' way they deserve to be ahead of the Shox in the polls. MSU is 14-9. You think a 5 point neutral court win in November trumps a season worth of data?

How many of those losses were without Bridges?

*sigh* What did we do to anger the NCSOS gods?

        • We appeared on 17 voters' ballots. The highest were John Feinstein and Paul Klee, each slotting us at #21.

This is why KU wont schedule us. Im convinced if they ever scheduled us, they would not go .500 and miss the tournament.

MSU is merely 4-4 since Bridges returned, and only 1 of those 8 games was against the 4 teams ahead of MSU in the Big 10 standings. I'm not sure MSU is all that amazing even with Bridges in the lineup.

The following table reflects my "order of risk" tracking efforts for March Madness Teams on a Neutral Court. First Five Teams IMO are more likely to defeat the Shockers; while the next ten teams are toss-up games I would prefer the Shockers not play until the second week of March Madness. As for the remainder of potential opponents I say bring-em on!

SMU? Really? I'm not exactly disagreeing. I just had no idea they were any good this year.

We've been right next to SMU in kenpom basically all year, and in today's poll where we are the effective #26, they are #25.

IMO SMU (20-4) plays efficient basketball; they are slow paced and deliberate. In games I have watched their offensive efforts have been consistently good and they maximize their field goal opportunities. Defensively they commit few fouls so their opponents do not shoot many free throws (about 14/game).

                      • I've seen SMU. I think they're good, but I think WSU would win more than they'd lose. I'd be FAR more concerned about their head coach sending a player to punch one of ours in the nutsack.

This all day. Against ISUb, on a neutral court, the Cyclones just weren't that motivated like they were when playing at the fog. That's an important metric. RPI be damned.

                          • Thanks. I really had not paid any attention to them at all. I didn't realize they were that good this year.

I suspect there's a fallacy in there somewhere, but who cares -- very smooth, jd.
