Lutz just tweeted out that the Tommy Bell guy has been the SIU AD for a year and a half. Is that really the kind of splash you want to be making so early on in your tenure?

Oh that makes more sense. He doesn't know our history of dominance I guess. He probably thinks these past 2 years were a fluke.

He did work at SIU from 2001 to 2007. Maybe he just hasn't figured out that the Valley isn't good anymore yet.

I am getting too big for my britches too so you all have company. Seriously though, I think I am pushing up to size 38. 36 is getting way too uncomfortable. I have broken two of those reversible belt things in the past 90 days or so. They just break.

I don't think having aspirations is bad at all so even though I am not a WSU fan, I think their AD is kind of goofball. He is no Mario Moccia that is for sure. I guess there could be a case that the way the WSU leadership talks about moving on could kind of create a de-stabilizing situation in the MVC but that is about the only way I can understand this. And that doesn't really qualify as getting too big for your britches.

If you like the fit of some AAC or CUSA logo pants I think you should go for it. The Valley pants have a nice familiar feel but they got some holes in them and stuff.

Folks, THAT is too big for your britches, not a school operating at a higher level for years on end saying they want to pursue other conferences that are more like-minded. If anything, WSU is closer to "staying in the MVC long past the point when the MVC was a good fit competitively" than "acting too big for it's britches"

Like Suellentrop said, this is very simple...either get better and end the discussion or stop complaining and admit what is going on. The MVC probably wants so badly for WSU to suck this year. I hope Marshall and the team smoke the Valley with all these newcomers. Let's quit acting like the only reason WSU was any good was Ron and Fred. There is more to come, and the MVC isn't going to like it.

Even with WSU's success, the Valley is becoming a disaster. Last year the MVC finished 13th in basketball RPI behind such other powerful conferences as the Summit, Colonial, and MAC. The Valley was closer to being #17 rated than they were #12. This isn't WSU's fault (or UNI's). Creighton leaving the MVC helped exposed how weak much of the conference is by having fewer quality programs to hold it up.

And it's not just in men's basketball. How does Bell account for WSU's dominance overall in athletics recently. It's not that WSU is too big for their britches, it's that most of the other Valley schools need to get some cohones.
Exactly. Where would the MVC rank WITHOUT WSU? That should really help us size up our britches!

Someone else already quoted you, but I can't agree enough on this. The next four years will make opposing schools beg for Ron and Fred.

And with all due respect to Barry Hinson, who I like, I hope Marshall takes it personally and tries to hang 100 on SIU both times this year.

That would be impossible to do against the reigning MVC Coach of the Year!

What the heck dude. Thought you were some fashion fiend with all your talk about cargo shorts and polo shirts and whatnot, but now you're talking about reversible belts like some middle-aged Napoleon Dynamite.

                      You're a paradox.

I freely admit I go cheap on belts. Generally Wal-Mart. They have a tendency to explode on me. You probably think I am joking but it is 100% truth. It must have happened 5 times in the past year. This lady in my office insists that I am not getting the right size belt. But yes in general I think I have style.

I have to admit that I have a reversible belt. My biggest concern is that makes me a flip-flopper.
