What still blows my mind is how Ragland shot 31% on threes as a junior, and 50% as a senior. He had a great season.

Incredible year, especially shooting the ball. Would like to see somebody else shoot the ball even close to that well sometime soon.

Well if Joe did it, this clearly means Frankcamp will do it this year, right? And then 65% from 3 for his senior year.

If you recall, Joe came in with a reputation as a guy that could really fill up the basket. It took him a while to get going his Jr year and never really was the "shooter" that we heard about. Something must've clicked for him his senior year because he was a totally different player.

Our choices of Reaves (12 minutes), Malone (0 minutes), Simon (3 minutes) for starting point guard came up empty, so those who chose (53 voters, 85.5%) someone else were correct, but who was it that started the game in the position?

Landry Shamet...your choices were so poor that these polls were bound to have bad results.

While I certainly appreciate what AR brings, the poll question had two (at the time) walk-ons and a freshman, but neglected the top 100 freshman that played PG in high school, the JC PG, and Conner Frankamp, who has been the subject of much debate as to whether he would be PG or SG. None of those guys even deserved to be listed in this poll? The rest of the polls were just as bad! And through all that, you are going to say that you believed that the skinny, at the time injured, freshman was going to start the first game of the year? I see putting him on the list, but you were going to pick him? Well you were wrong, because as it turns out he was fourth string.

Fourth string? But I agree with the position that all of these polls were silly and now we have to read them again.

It was just for the Augusta game, but yeah...Shamet started, then Conner, then Smith, then Reaves briefly. I don't expect Reaves to be fourth string again.

As I was surprised with the makeup of the starting five I monitored the entry of the players, which was -

CF was first substitute into the game - he played the 1 (LS moved from the #1 to the #2)

SM was second substitute - he played the #4 (I did not hear Mike Kennedy identify his position on court)

DW was third substitute - he played the #4

DS was fourth substitute - he played the #1

AR was fifth substitute - he played the #2 (To me this entry indicates a different string than fourth)

EH was sixth substitute - he played the #5 (I did not hear Mike identify his position on court)

CJ was seventh substitute - he played the #2 or #3 (I did not hear Mike identify his position on court)

JR was eighth substitute - he played the #1

Please correct if you were at the game and observed a substitute played a different position than the one I identified.

Shamet is extremely skilled. I was excited that he started at point, but he was not impressive for the 4 or so minutes he played the position on Saturday. Coach has stated that some combination of Frankamp and Smith would run the point. Also, that Reaves understands the offense, passes well into the post, and can score. Shamet can play in a pinch.

Frankamp and Shamet will start at the 1 and 2 on Friday per Marshall.

My prediction for February is that Conner will play over 20 mpg and Shamet will play just shy of 30 mpg (entirely at the 2). Reaves and Smith will split the remaining ~ 30 backcourt minutes and we will all be excited about all 4.

I have also read that Long Beach State is picked to win the Mountain West this year. May not be just a walk over. However, Tulsa who lost some 8 seniors and Maryland Eastern Shore our 3rd and 4th games I believe should be easier than the first two games. Me thinks we should start our best point guard, who ever that is, and not walkons. Just sayin my say.
Well, I guess I wasn't too far off here huh Fred?
