  • Athletic Department Garage Sale on Oct. 15

New fall wardrobe — WSU will sell used athletic gear at its athletic department garage sale on Oct. 15 at the Koch Arena practice gym.

Don’t expect to buy No. 23 or No. 31 from a recent men’s basketball team. However, if you want a James Anacreon or Jake White jersey (no guarantees), this might be the event for you.

Jerseys, shorts, practice gear and shoes from basketball, baseball and other sports are available from 8 a.m.-noon. Also for sale are golf carts and cheer and dance uniforms.

Proceeds benefit each sport. Enter on the east side of the practice gym.

Even if the price is set and would normally be a no charge, your credit card will get blocked.

You are gonna have to wait for the Drake date auction for that.

"Dress like a Shocker at Wichita State’s garage sale" - Wichita Eagle

                By Paul Suellentrop, Sports Writer

"Underneath the stands in Koch Arena are storage rooms filled with plastic containers, like the ones you have in your basement or garage. These are filled with Shocker jerseys, pants, shoes and more.

If you want to dress like a Shocker for Halloween, Wichita State will help on Saturday. It is cleaning house and will sell used athletic gear at its garage sale at the Koch Arena practice gym from 8 a.m.-noon...."

$40 for a new baseball or softball bat? To say nothing for the stuff on sale which is more like memorabilia, that's a hell of a deal, isn't it?

How new are we talking? Like new, new? Or just 'seem new cause they never made much contact with anything' new?

No idea. I would assume the latter.

Those bats could easily have been $200-400 brand new. So even if you had to put a new grip on one that is a great deal. Sadly I'm busy all day Saturday and don't think I can get to the sale, unless I sneak away from my son's flag football game for a bit.

I got a sweet game-worn (at least bench-worn) Jared Walker jersey. I'll happily trade for a Wamakota or Jake White jersey I got there around 10am and they still had a bunch of stuff.

Got a blank jersey (maybe a blood jersey), a couple pairs of game shorts, and a brand-new Nike polo with WSU logo. All $20 each. I was happy with that.
